The ability of the op-amp to suppress common-mode (coming simultaneously to both inputs) voltage allows you to select a weak useful signal against the background of strong interference. The figure shows a diagram of a device (its principle of operation is based on the specified property of the op-amp), which allows transmitting signals in both directions over a single coaxial cable (elements on the right side of the diagram are assigned reference designations starting with number 11).

Two-way communication line, scheme

Input signals A and B through buffer amplifiers (DA1, DA11) with a gain of 1 and resistors R5, R15 enter the line. The inputs of the op-amp UA2 and DA 12 are also connected to it, amplifying the difference signal, and the common mode signal is suppressing. By changing the resistances of the tuning resistors R8 and R18, it is possible to achieve suppression of an unwanted signal by 50 ... 55 dB.

The device can be used to transmit not only analog but also digital signals.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

NASA robots to help earthlings 05.07.2014

A robotic device called "Robonaut 2" was delivered by NASA to the ISS back in 2011. In its structure, the mechanism was similar to a person and had arms and hands, with which he could perform certain operations. True, until recently the robot had no lower limbs. But during the April flight of the Dragon cargo ship, which was launched to the ISS using a SpaceX launch vehicle, specialists at the station received a new pair of "legs" for the planned upgrade of Robonaut 2.

Initially, the developers of Robonaut 2 considered it as a future replacement for astronauts when performing dangerous work in outer space. In turn, the applied developments turned out to be so successful and promising for further development that NASA decided to conduct a project that would be focused on creating an earth modification of the robot to perform other tasks.

The space agency plans to turn the Robonaut device into a full-fledged exoskeleton, the model of which is called "X1". The transformed mechanism, first of all, was created to facilitate the work of astronauts in weightlessness. The design is also a universal simulator. Being programmed to resist the movement of an astronaut dressed in an exoskeleton, X1 allows you to effectively resist muscle atrophy during training.

However, for the exoskeleton, there are also alternative applications already in the conditions of familiar gravity. X1 is of particular value to people who are confined to a wheelchair after a stroke or who have received paralysis of the lower or upper extremities as a result of other diseases. It is the introduction of X1 for the needs of medicine that seems to be the most relevant and promising application of such a high-tech and expensive design.

In turn, it can be stated that it was thanks to the Robonaut project that the RoboGlove glove appeared. Initially, it was also focused on becoming an attribute of the equipment of American space explorers. With its help, the astronauts, when working on the ISS or in outer space, would increase the traction force with the surface.

Consisting of flexible artificial tendons, the robotic glove will allow not only to determine the hand grip force using built-in sensors. The device can provide a more secure and comfortable hold of the object, or vice versa - you have to make an extra effort to overcome the resistance specially created by RoboGlove.

Telemedicine is also considered as a promising and no less vital direction of the listed NASA developments. It provides for a set of measures and systems for the purpose of their remote transmission using telecommunication technologies. Consultative practice with the help of telemedicine is necessary to increase the level of knowledge and diagnostic methods in treatment, the fastest possible exchange of data between specialists, as well as for the rapid investigation of diseases and their subsequent control.

Test testing of the Robonaut model in a Houston medical facility demonstrated that the device, when remotely controlled, is able to accurately and accurately insert a needle into a patient's vein.
