If the apartment has several telephone sets (SLT) in different rooms connected to the same telephone line, then you simply need this device. When a phone call comes in, all SLTs often go off-hook, which causes complications at the beginning of a call. If you need to call from one room, and there is a telephone conversation in another at that time, then you have to repeatedly pick up the phone to find out if the line is free. There are also cases when one of the telephones is badly hung up and, not knowing about it, you can not wait for the desired call.

To get rid of all these inconveniences will help the electrical circuit shown in Fig. 2.1. It allows you to have a light indication when the handset is off-hook on any of the SLTs.

Fig. 2.1

The circuit is connected to the telephone line in parallel with the SLT in any convenient place, for example, you can install it inside the case of each SLT, fixing the HL1 LED in a visible place.

The electrical circuit can be simplified by excluding the VD1 diode bridge, but at the same time, the device must be connected to the telephone line observing the polarity indicated in the diagram.

The principle of operation of the device is based on the use of voltage changes in the telephone line. So, if the telephone line is not busy, then the voltage on it is about 60 volts, and when you pick up the handset on any of the SLT, it drops to 6 ... 15 V (depending on the internal resistance of the SLT).

The circuit consists of a line voltage level detector on a transistor VT1 and a current amplifier on VT2, VT3. Transistor VT1 operates in microcurrent mode, which provides it with the maximum gain. For this reason, it will be in one of two states: locked or open, depending on the supply voltage.

When setting the indicator operation voltage, it will be necessary to select the value of the resistor R3, and in the manufacture of the circuit it is permissible to use R1, R2 - from 3 MΩ to 5,1 MΩ and R4 - from 750 kΩ to 1 MΩ.

The HL1 LED can be replaced with AL310A or any of the KIP series, and the VD1 diode bridge with four diodes of the KD102A, B type.

It is better to check the operation of the circuit by applying a constant voltage of 6 ... 15 V from a regulated source (in this case, the HL1 indicator should be lit). Gradually increasing the voltage to 30 V, you should make sure that at a voltage of more than 20 V the LED goes out.

The above scheme has proved to be reliable in operation and does not affect the operation of the telephone line.

The current consumption of the circuit from the telephone line with the handset down does not exceed 0,01 mA.

The topology of a single-sided printed circuit board and the arrangement of elements on it (without VD1) is shown in fig. 2.2. The dimensions of the board were chosen taking into account the possibility of installing it in a standard telephone jack (Fig. 2.3).

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Robotic dogs will fly to Mars 20.12.2020

NASA unveiled the four-legged robot Au-Spot with artificial intelligence - a modified version of the Spot robot from Boston Dynamics.

Scientists are equipping four-legged animal-simulating robots with artificial intelligence (AI) and a suite of sensory equipment to help them autonomously navigate the Red Planet.

It is assumed that robotic dogs will be able to maneuver better than the Spirit, Opportunity, Curiosity and Perseverance rovers.

The maneuverability and stability of the new robots are combined with sensors that allow them to avoid obstacles, choose between multiple paths, and build virtual maps of buried tunnels and caves for home base operators.

Traditional rovers are limited to mostly flat surfaces, but many scientifically interesting regions of Mars are located in rugged terrain or underground. Robotic dogs are well suited for such tasks - even if they fall, they can get up again.

The Martian dogs will be about 12 times lighter than today's rovers and will be able to travel much faster, reaching a normal walking speed of 5 km/h during testing. The researchers reported that the Curiosity rover is moving on the surface of Mars at a speed of about 0,14 km/h.

Au-Spot scans its surroundings with a variety of sensors that are processed by an onboard computer, allowing the Martian Dog to display what is around him in 3D.
