The Radio magazine has already published articles on repairing the cassette loading mechanism and refilling the tape in VCRs, as well as on replacing the microcircuit that controls the LPM engine. A similar problem arose during the repair of the Sony XR 2750 car radio, manufactured in 1998. In it, loading the cassette and turning on the rewind, playback and tape straightening modes (by briefly turning on the rewind in both directions alternately) are carried out by a motor controlled by a microcircuit 718.1322. At the moment when it is turned off, there is no supply voltage on the microcircuit, since the D1802 transistor, controlled by the processor, is closed. When the engine is turned on, the collector of this transistor always has the voltage of the on-board network (12 ... 13 V), but when the transistor opens, there will be only about 9 V at its emitter, since the voltage at the base is limited by the zener diode.

When looking for a defect, it turned out that not only the 718.1322 chip, but also the D1802 transistor. and a zener diode, the type of which remained unknown, are faulty. Simultaneous failure of the transistor and the microcircuit is possible during prolonged engine overload or overheating (the radio tape recorder is located in the car near the heating system). It should be noted that if there is no signal from the LPM limit switches for some time, the cassette loading is blocked by locking the transistor. For this reason, it was not possible to "deceive" the processor, simulating the operation of the engine by manually rotating the pulley, in order to set the sequence of signals at the inputs of the microcircuit and the signals received by the processor from the LPM programmer.

The faulty zener diode and transistor were replaced by domestic KS191A and KT805AM. The transistor had to be fixed with a screw in an additional drilled hole in the board.

To replace the microcircuit, I developed its analogue (see diagram in the figure), which is easy to manufacture and reliable in operation. It can be made in small dimensions using elements intended for surface mounting. The analogue is a phase inverter in the bridge version, in which the control voltage can be applied simultaneously to two inputs. Due to the absence of resistors between the bases of the transistors of the final stage, a short circuit and failure of the transistors are excluded. The voltage on the transistors of the final stage is quenched by resistors R3, R4, R8, R9. Resistors R2, R5, R7, R10 are used to balance the cascade and, if necessary, an accurate zero setting can be achieved by selecting one of them.

The analogue of the microcircuit is mounted on a printed circuit board. The external pins are numbered according to the chip pins. The board is installed between the housing wall and the LPM control motor and fixed with MZ screws on the side wall through 4 mm thick dielectric gaskets. Inputs 2 and 4 are connected by a conductor to the terminals of resistors with a nominal value of 1 kΩ, from which the signal was sent to the same-name terminals of the microcircuit. Power pins 3, 7 are soldered to the emitter of the previously installed KT805AM transistor. Conclusion 1 is connected to the body in any convenient place. Conclusions 6 and 8, bypassing the connector, are connected to the engine.

The output transistors of the analogue of the microcircuit, as well as the installed KT805AM, do not need a heat sink. The smoothness of the loading mechanism depends on the speed of rotation of the motor shaft, which is changed by selecting a zener diode for a voltage in the range of 7 ...

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

ASUS ROG SWIFT OLED PG49WCD Ultra Wide Monitor 01.06.2023

ASUS has unveiled the ROG SWIFT OLED PG49WCD 49-inch widescreen QD-OLED monitor.

The ASUS ROG SWIFT OLED PG49WCD screen has a resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixels - like two 27-inch 1440p monitors standing side by side. the user's peripheral vision is covered by a curvature of 1800R. Compared to other 49-inch 5K monitors, the PG49WCD has a lower refresh rate of "only" 144Hz. Screen response time is 0,03ms, AMD FreeSync Premium is supported.

ROG SWIFT PG49WCD is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified with 10-bit color and 99 percent DCI-P3 color gamut. With HDR enabled, the maximum brightness is 1000 nits at three percent of the display area.

The monitor is equipped with a massive fanless cooling system based on a heatsink and graphene film. The PG49WCD is equipped with DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 ports, the built-in hub includes USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A and Type-C at 90W.

You can connect a mouse, keyboard and two PCs to the monitor and control both at the same time. A simple movement of the mouse allows you to switch from one computer to another, and USB connectors allow you to transfer files between them.
