At the stands of shops and salons there is now a large selection of all kinds of audio equipment, including those with CD players. Many computers are now also equipped with a CD-ROM drive unit, allowing the computer not only to read file information, but also to listen to music CDs.

Of course, not everyone needs to buy, say, a radio with a CD player or a music center, already having a good amplifier or other reproducing equipment. For those who want to acquire such a player with minimal material costs, I recommend purchasing CD-ROM drives, which, as already noted, are suitable for playing music CDs. When choosing such a unit, keep in mind that high-speed drives, although more expensive, do not have any advantages when playing conventional audio CDs.

CD-ROM drive as an audio CD player

Recently, CD-ROM drives have been sold that have two buttons - "Play" and a button for ejecting the tray. Moreover, they perform additional functions: pressing the "Play" button again during CD playback allows you to switch to listening to the next musical composition, and the button for extending the tray during playback performs the "Pause" function. If there is only one button on the drive unit - for pulling out the tray, then after loading the CD, the playback mode automatically turns on. There are also remote control CD-ROM drives, but they are relatively expensive.

An example of the placement of connectors on the rear panel of one of these devices is shown in the figure. All you need to do when using the CD player is to connect the power and connect it to the amplifier. The power supply must have two stabilized output voltages: +12 V and +5 V.

The current consumed by the drive is usually indicated in the passport, or on the case. On the front panel there is a jack for connecting stereo phones, on the back there is an analog output connector (ANALOG AUDIO) with an output signal amplitude of up to 1 V. A two-wire shielded cable with an appropriate connector for connecting to an amplifier is connected to it.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Scientists have perfected the web 11.08.2009

Employees of the Institute for Physics of Microstructures in Halle (Germany) managed to strengthen one of the most durable natural materials - the web.

This protein thread can withstand a greater load than a steel wire of the same diameter. By introducing zinc, aluminum or titanium ions into the web, physicists have achieved an increase in its strength by another 3-4 times.

According to the authors of the study, the metals form strong cross-links between the protein strands in the web. Since chemists are now trying to synthesize man-made fibers with cobweb properties, the new invention could be tested on these fibers.
