The figure shows a diagram of frequency conversion units that can be used in a transmitter designed by J. Lapovka (UA1FA). They do not have any features in their construction, but together they provide the same signal level (about 2 V) at the input of the pre-amplifier in the ranges from 1,8 to 28 MHz. A local oscillator is assembled on transistor VT1, which generates oscillations of a fixed frequency of 5 MHz, on VT4 - an IF amplifier.

The first mixer is a diode ring (VD1-VD4), the second is balanced on transistors VT6, VT7. Cascades on transistors VT1, VT2, VT5, VT8 - matching. The establishment of this conversion path is reduced to balancing the transistor mixer with resistor R21 until the GPA signal disappears at the output and adjusting the coils L1, 12 of the bandpass filter at a frequency of 5,5 MHz to the maximum signal at the same output. Coils L1, L2 are wound with PEL 0,31 wire on a frame with a diameter of 9 mm and contain 20 turns each. The coils are spaced 12mm apart. Transformers T1-T4 are made on a ring (size K7X4X2) magnetic core made of 600NN ferrite. The windings of each of them are wound (16 turns) simultaneously with PELSHO 0.2 wires pre-twisted together (three twists per 10 mm).

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Controlling objects using air currents 04.05.2024

The development of robotics continues to open up new prospects for us in the field of automation and control of various objects. Recently, Finnish scientists presented an innovative approach to controlling humanoid robots using air currents. This method promises to revolutionize the way objects are manipulated and open new horizons in the field of robotics. The idea of controlling objects using air currents is not new, but until recently, implementing such concepts remained a challenge. Finnish researchers have developed an innovative method that allows robots to manipulate objects using special air jets as "air fingers". The air flow control algorithm, developed by a team of specialists, is based on a thorough study of the movement of objects in the air flow. The air jet control system, carried out using special motors, allows you to direct objects without resorting to physical ... >>

Purebred dogs get sick no more often than purebred dogs 03.05.2024

Caring for the health of our pets is an important aspect of the life of every dog owner. However, there is a common assumption that purebred dogs are more susceptible to diseases compared to mixed dogs. New research led by researchers at the Texas School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences brings new perspective to this question. A study conducted by the Dog Aging Project (DAP) of more than 27 companion dogs found that purebred and mixed dogs were generally equally likely to experience various diseases. Although some breeds may be more susceptible to certain diseases, the overall diagnosis rate is virtually the same between both groups. The Dog Aging Project's chief veterinarian, Dr. Keith Creevy, notes that there are several well-known diseases that are more common in certain breeds of dogs, which supports the notion that purebred dogs are more susceptible to disease. ... >>

Logitech G CLOUD Gaming Handheld Console 26.09.2022

Logitech has released the G CLOUD Gaming Handheld.

The console, which was developed in partnership with Tencent, has a similar design to the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck and features A/B/X/Y buttons, a D-Pad, two analog sticks, two bumpers, two analog triggers, and L&R option buttons, and also the G button and the Home button.

The device is a cloud gaming machine, which means users will need a Wi-Fi connection as the actual game will be displayed on remote servers. This will allow the unit to play AAA titles beyond the capabilities of compact handheld consoles. Console play requires an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Nvidia GeForce NOW, or Steam Link subscription.

The console has an Android based operating system that supports Google Play Store, Chrome, YouTube, etc. In terms of internals, the console is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It supports Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac. It features a Linear Haptics motor with stereo speaker, 3,5mm audio jack and USB-C digital headphone support. In addition, the console also has a gyroscope and controls that can be reconfigured.

The Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld is currently available for pre-order in the US and Canada and will ship in October. It currently costs $299, but is predicted to rise to $349,99 soon.
