In some cases, the high speed of DTL and TTL ICs is more of a hindrance than an advantage. This is especially true for many control schemes in which the speed of the system as a whole is still limited by electromechanical devices. In addition, these electromechanical devices can generate current and voltage inductions that affect logic circuits.

These difficulties are especially significant if the logic circuits are not located close to each other. Then a good solution to the problem is given by conventional amplifiers for working on a long line (main amplifiers) and input stages operating from a long line (main input stages). However, it is these cascades that often determine the high overall cost of devices that do not require high speed at all.

In addition, one main amplifier and one main input stage must be installed on each long line, and the line itself must be made as a pair of twisted wires.

At the same time, a type 555 integrated timer can be used as a main input stage. If a resistive-capacitive integrator is enabled at its input, then such a main input stage provides high noise immunity of the circuit. In addition, it has a large input impedance and does not

requires a main amplifier at the "transmitting" end of the line. Further, the integral timer output is directly interfaced with the TTL IC, and it needs only 5 VDC to power it. Only one wire is needed to feed the signals, which can be unshielded.

The time-setting capacity should be taken as large as possible, so long as it does not limit the performance of the system as a whole. The logic output of the circuit is held low when the strobe signal is low.
