Relaxation oscillations are understood as such oscillations that have a clearly identified non-sinusoidal shape. The sources of relaxation oscillations can be divided into two types. In sources of the first type (generators), non-sinusoidal oscillations are generated directly. The second type includes generators in which a sinusoidal voltage is converted into a non-sinusoidal voltage. The latter are also called generator-converters.

Non-sinusoidal oscillations are extremely widely used in modern radio circuits. They are most widely used in radar and television equipment, where they serve to scan time processes on the screen of a cathode ray tube. In addition, they are widely used in telemechanical systems to turn on and off individual circuits at various time intervals, in high-frequency pulse generators to control the sending of pulses, etc.

The essence of relaxation oscillations is easily explained by the following mechanical example. Let us have a vessel that is filled with water from a source of low power (Fig. 1a). The water level in the vessel slowly rises, and after a while T will reach a-a. At this moment, pipe B comes into action. Since its cross section is large, due to the siphon action of pipe B, the vessel will begin to quickly empty until the water level reaches the mark b-b. This will happen in a certain time interval t1, which is much less than the time of filling the vessel. After that, the vessel will begin to fill again, and the process will be repeated. On fig. 1b this process is shown graphically. The y-axis shows the height of the water level in the vessel, and the abscissa shows the time. The graph shows that during the time T the vessel is slowly filled, which corresponds to the section of the graph c-d. Then the water from the vessel quickly pours out, which corresponds to the section of the graph gd. The process is then repeated exactly.

The process of relaxation oscillations can be similarly divided into two stages. In the first stage, energy is accumulated, and in the second, its return.

Our example refers to a non-linear system. In this case, the system is characterized by the fact that during the time T it is "locked" and does not give energy to the external circuit. Further, the system is "unlocked", and the energy is transferred to the external circuit.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Electrode modernization of spacesuits to protect against Martian dust 05.03.2024

As astronauts prepare for a trip to Mars, they face many challenges, including protecting themselves from Martian dust, which can be hazardous to their spacesuits. To solve this problem, scientists propose equipping spacesuits with electrodes that create static repulsion.

NASA experts are confident that by 2040 people will go to Mars. However, to ensure the safety of astronauts, many technical problems must be solved, including protection from Martian dust. The dust on Mars is fine, electrically charged, and has sharp edges. It can penetrate inside spacesuits and cause various breakdowns, posing a threat to the crew.

To prevent this problem, scientists propose introducing a system of electrodes into spacesuits that creates static repulsion. This idea was put forward by British scientists from the University of Bristol.

The operating principle of the system is based on the phenomenon of dielectrophoresis, which is the movement of neutral particles under the influence of a non-uniform electric field. The proposed electrostatic removal system (ERS) includes a high voltage wave generator (HVWG) and an electrostatic removal device (ERD) consisting of an array of parallel copper electrodes.

When dust particles land on the surface of the ERD, they are subjected to electrostatic and dielectrophoretic forces, causing them to move and therefore clean the surface of the suit.

The experiments carried out by scientists included the study of various variables, such as the frequency and amplitude of the waves, the distance between the electrodes and others. The results of the experiments will be used to develop effective equipment.

Electrode retrofitting of spacesuits represents a promising solution to protect astronauts from Martian dust. It will ensure the safety of the crew during missions to Mars and other space objects.
