7.3.31. Explosion-proof electrical equipment is divided into levels and types of explosion protection, groups and temperature classes.

7.3.32. The following levels of explosion protection of electrical equipment have been established: "electrical equipment of increased reliability against explosion", "explosion-proof electrical equipment" and "especially explosion-proof electrical equipment".

Level "electrical equipment of increased reliability against explosion" - explosion-proof electrical equipment in which explosion protection is provided only in a recognized normal mode of operation. Level sign - 2.

Level "explosion-proof electrical equipment" - explosion-proof electrical equipment, in which explosion protection is provided both in normal operation and in case of recognized probable damage determined by operating conditions, except for damage to explosion protection equipment. Level sign - 1.

The level of "especially explosion-proof electrical equipment" is explosion-proof electrical equipment, in which, in relation to explosion-proof electrical equipment, additional means of explosion protection are adopted, provided for by standards for types of explosion protection. Level sign - 0.

7.3.33. Explosion-proof electrical equipment can have the following types of explosion protection:

Flameproof shell d
Filling or purging the enclosure under positive pressure with shielding gas р
intrinsically safe electrical circuit i
Quartz filling of the shell with current-carrying parts q
Oil filled sheath with live parts o
Special type of explosion protection s
Type "e" protection e

The types of explosion protection that provide different levels of explosion protection differ in the means and measures for ensuring explosion safety, specified in the standards for the corresponding types of explosion protection.

7.3.34. Explosion-proof electrical equipment, depending on the field of application, is divided into two groups (Table 7.3.5).

7.3.35. Group II electrical equipment with types of explosion protection "explosion-proof enclosure" and (or) "intrinsically safe electrical circuit" is divided into three subgroups corresponding to the categories of explosive mixtures according to Table. 7.3.6.

7.3.36. Electrical equipment of group II, depending on the value of the limiting temperature, is divided into six temperature classes corresponding to groups of explosive mixtures (Table 7.3.7).

Limiting temperature - the highest temperature of the surfaces of explosion-proof electrical equipment, safe in relation to the ignition of the surrounding explosive atmosphere.

Table 7.3.5. Groups of explosion-proof electrical equipment by area of its application

Electric equipment Group sign
Mining, intended for underground workings of mines and mines I
For indoor and outdoor installation (except mine) II

Table 7.3.6. Subgroups of electrical equipment of group II with types of protection "explosion-proof enclosure" and (or) "intrinsically safe electrical circuit" *

Electrical equipment group sign Electrical equipment subgroup sign Explosive mixture category for which electrical equipment is explosion-proof
II - IIA, IIB and IIC
IIA IIA
IIB IIA and IIB
IIC IIA, IIB and IIC

* Sign II is used for electrical equipment that is not subdivided into subgroups.

Table 7.3.7. Temperature classes of electrical equipment of group II

Temperature class sign for electrical equipment Limit temperature, ºС Explosive mixture group for which electrical equipment is explosion-proof
T1 450 T1
T2 300 T1, T2
T3 200 T1-T3
T4 135 T1-T4
T5 100 T1-T5
T6 85 T1-T6

7.3.37. The marking for explosion protection of electrical equipment in the following sequence includes:

  • sign of the level of explosion protection of electrical equipment (2, 1, 0);
  • Ex mark indicating compliance of electrical equipment with explosion-proof electrical equipment standards;
  • sign of the type of protection (d, i, q, o, s, e);
  • sign of a group or subgroup of electrical equipment (II, IIA, IIB, IIC);
  • sign of the temperature class of electrical equipment (T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6).

Explosion protection markings may contain additional signs and inscriptions in accordance with the standards for electrical equipment with certain types of explosion protection. Examples of marking explosion-proof electrical equipment are given in Table. 7.3.8.

Table 7.3.8. Examples of marking explosion-proof electrical equipment

Explosion protection level Type of explosion protection Group (subgroup) Temperature class Explosion protection marking

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Computer mouse will evaluate health 17.04.2000

The latest innovation from Almaden Research Center is the Emotion Mouse. The device is an ordinary mouse with a copper coating on the buttons and an IR source.

Thanks to these "additions", the mouse allows you to determine the heart rate, temperature and electrical conductivity of the skin, as well as register the micro-movements of the user's fingers, whose psycho-emotional state is determined by a special program.

To obtain the final result, the user must solve puzzles and view computer comics for half an hour.
