1.8.14. DC machines with power up to 200 kW, voltage up to 440 V should be tested according to paragraphs 1, 2, 4c, 8; all the rest - additionally according to paragraphs 3, 4a, 5 of this paragraph.

Exciters of synchronous generators and compensators should be tested according to paragraphs 1-6, 8 of this paragraph.

The measurement according to clause 7 of this paragraph should be made for machines that arrived at the installation site in disassembled form.

1. Determination of the possibility of switching on without drying DC machines.

Should be produced in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

2. Measurement of insulation resistance.

a) Winding insulation resistance.

The measurement is carried out at a nominal winding voltage of up to 0,5 kV inclusive with a megohmmeter at a voltage of 500 V, and at a nominal winding voltage above 0,5 kV - with a megohmmeter for 1000 V.

The measured value of insulation resistance must not be less than that given in Table 1.8.7.

b) Insulation resistance of bandages.

The measurement is made relative to the housing and the windings held by them.

The measured value of the insulation resistance must be at least 0,5 Mohm.

3. Insulation test with increased voltage of industrial frequency.

The test is carried out according to the standards given in Table 1.8.8. The duration of application of the normalized test voltage is 1 min. Windings of machines with a power of less than 3 kW may not be tested.

4. DC resistance measurement:

a) excitation windings. The resistance value should differ from the manufacturer's data by no more than 2%;

b) armature windings (between collector plates). The resistance values should differ from one another by no more than 10%, except in cases where the fluctuations are due to the winding connection scheme;

c) rheostats and ballast resistors. The total resistance is measured, the integrity of the taps is checked. The resistance values should differ from the manufacturer's data by no more than 10%.

5. Removal of characteristics of idling and testing of coil insulation.

The voltage rise should be made: for DC generators up to 130% of the rated voltage; for exciters - up to the highest (ceiling) or factory-set voltage. When testing the coil insulation of machines with more than four poles, the average voltage between adjacent collector plates should not exceed 24 V. The duration of the test of coil insulation is 3 minutes.

The deviation of the data of the obtained characteristic from the values of the factory characteristic must be within the measurement error.

6. Removal of the load characteristics.

It should be made for exciters at a load up to a value not lower than the rated excitation current of the generator. Deviation from the factory specification is not standardized.

7. Measurement of air gaps between poles.

Measurements are made for machines with a power of 200 kW or more. The dimensions of the gap at diametrically opposite points should differ from one another by no more than 10% of the average gap size. For exciters of turbogenerators of 300 MW and more, this difference should not exceed 5%.

8. Test at idle and under load.

The limit of speed or voltage regulation is determined, which must correspond to the factory and design data.

Table 1.8.7. The lowest permissible values of the insulation resistance of the windings of DC machines

Winding temperature, ºС Insulation resistance R60", Mohm, at rated voltage of machines, V

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Smart chair Sharp 11.12.2014

If you are not a doctor, you are unlikely to feel love for going to the clinic. However, many doctors go there not at all out of love for their chosen profession and it is not for us to tell about it. It is possible to reduce visits by searching for answers on the Internet. Previously, for this they read the magazine "Health" or used the advice of grandmothers. But progress doesn't stand still, does it? New trends are sensors in smartphones and wearable electronics. Pulse, pressure, sweating intensity, primitive ECG - all this and much more, not yet implemented, will help to more accurately determine how you feel before visiting the doctor and, perhaps, completely postpone the visit.

The next level is more advanced systems for determining the physical and mental state of a person. To clarify, we are still talking about fairly inexpensive complexes, which in the future may be at home for everyone. A similar system was shown by Sharp at Semicon Japan 2014. This is a premium aircraft seat. The chair has a built-in set of sensors and a specialized computer system with a display. The data is taken and immediately analyzed with the output of the result in the form of understandable graphs or icons.

The armchair allows you to measure the mass, blood pressure, pulse rate, the state of the blood vessels (the pulse wave is being studied), as well as receive data on the state of the autonomic nervous system (about the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions). Cross-analysis and special processing of data for each parameter gives an approximate picture of the current state of health. The data can be sent to the Sharp cloud, where it can be compiled into a database for each person and analyzed by a medical specialist, sending the processed information back to the patient.

Sharp notes that the request for such a chair came from companies involved in servicing the elderly. But the scope of such complexes is much wider. They can be installed in gyms, fitness centers, in companies that care about the health of employees, in private hospitals and in public medical institutions. Preliminary demand for the development was so strong that the company will start selling the "health chair" in the first half of fiscal year 2015 (April to September 2015).
