The uninterruptible power supply provides output power up to 220 watts. In the circuit (see figure) and the voltage of the lead car battery GB1 is applied to the master oscillator on the DD1 chip with a frequency of 50 Hz, which swings powerful key transistors, alternately applying 12 V to the windings la and Ib of the step-up transformer T2. From the secondary winding T2, a voltage of 220 V. with a frequency of 50 Hz is supplied to the load. When the mains voltage appears on the X1 connector, the K1 relay is activated, which switches the power supply to the GB1 battery automatic charging mode.

Transformer T1 can be used with any power of at least 10 W, providing a voltage of at least 20 V on the secondary winding. Transformer T2 must have two identical windings of 10 V and 10 A.

Set up the automatic charge assembly as follows. Connector X1 is not connected to the network. Instead of a battery, a stabilized DC source with an adjustable output voltage is connected, which is set by a voltmeter equal to 14,5 V. The trimmer P1 is set to the lower position according to the diagram, and the trimmer P2 is set to the upper position according to the diagram. In this case, the transistors must be locked, and the relay K2 is de-energized.

Slowly rotating the axis of the trimmer P2, the relay is activated. Then, a voltage of 12,6 V is set on the power source and, by slowly rotating the axis of the trimmer P1, the relay is released.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Single-chip controller SM2320 for portable external SSD 06.09.2021

Silicon Motion Technology, a company specializing in controllers for solid state drives, has introduced a single-chip model SM2320 designed for portable external SSDs. According to the manufacturer, SM2320 is the fastest controller of its kind.

The controller includes four NAND channels and an external USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface. It provides sequential read speeds up to 2100MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 2000MB/s.

By eliminating the separate USB bridge chip commonly used in external SSDs, the drive's component list has been reduced and power consumption has been reduced. The controller supports TLC and QLC NAND memory chips up to 4 TB in total. It implements end-to-end Silicon Motion NANDXtend ECC data link protection.

In addition, security-related advantages include support for 256-bit AES encryption, full compliance with the Opal Trusted Computing Group (TCG) specification, and support for access control using a fingerprint sensor.
