The described device is designed to convert a DC voltage of 12 V AC from 200 to 500 V and can deliver up to 500 W of power to the load.

The converter circuit is shown in fig. 4.40.

Powerful thyristor converter, 12/200-500 volts 500 watts

The frequency of the output alternating voltage is determined by the pulse frequency of the oscillator, made on transistors VT1 and VT2. These pulses through the transformer T1 control the thyristor switches VD1 and VD2, which alternately connect one or the other halves of the primary winding of the transformer T2 to a constant voltage source. The load is connected to terminals 4-5 of the transformer T2. The quality of the voltage converter operation largely depends on the correct selection of the capacitance of the capacitor C4. The capacitor is chosen correctly if, with fluctuations in the supply voltage within ± 10%, a clear alternate closing of the keys is provided.

The use of separating capacitors C2 and C3 increases the stability of the converter. Resistor R3 protects the Power Source from short circuit at the moment of switching the keys. The output voltage frequency of the device with the specified data is 200 Hz. If you provide for the possibility of changing the frequency of the oscillator (for example, instead of the oscillator, assemble a frequency-controlled multivibrator with a power amplifier), then at the output of the converter you can get a voltage with a frequency of 50 .... 400 Hz, which will allow you to use it for smooth control of the speed of rotation of synchronous electric motors with a power up to 500 W.

By changing the number of turns of the secondary winding of the transformer T2 accordingly, it is possible to obtain various sizes at the output of the voltage converter. Transformer T1 is wound on a W 16x10 core and has windings: I - 2x40 turns PEV-2-0,8, II - 2x10 turns PEV-2-0,2 ,2 and III - 20x2 turns of PEV-0,2-2. Transformer T50 is wound on a Sh60x2 core and has windings: I - 40x2 turns of PEV-3,0-800 and II - 2 turns of PEV-0,92-400. With such data, the output voltage of the converter is XNUMX V.

Avalanche thyristors PTL-100 are quite rare devices, but in this circuit it is allowed to use more common types of powerful thyristors. These thyristors must also be rated for switching currents of at least 100 A.

As a replacement, you can offer such thyristors for a current of 100 A: T151-100 or an older TWO (both of these thyristors do not belong to the avalanche class), but only more powerful ones are available from avalanche thyristors. These are TL171-250, TLP1-320 or TL2-160, TL2-200, TL2-250. There are also high-frequency thyristors, including those for 100 A, for example, TBSh-100, TCH100, TCHI100. All these powerful thyristors, despite their name, can operate at frequencies up to 500 Hz.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Wireless microcontroller STM32WLE4CC 13.09.2021

The line of STM32 microcontrollers manufactured by STMicroelectronics has been replenished with a new STM32WLE4CC chip, which has a transceiver with a frequency range up to 1 GHz. The radio can not only work with classic modulation types such as (G)FSK and (G)MSK, but also allows you to transmit a BPSK signal with a bit rate of 100 or 600 bps. This chip allows you to create low-cost wireless IoT devices that will be compatible with a large fleet of existing FSK systems.

The STM32WLE4xx chip is based on a high-performance 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4 RISC core running at up to 48 MHz. This core implements the entire DSP instruction set and an independent memory protection unit (MPU) that enhances application security. The devices have high-speed memory (Flash-memory up to 256 KB, SRAM up to 64 KB), as well as a large set of advanced input-output devices and rich peripherals.

The chip has several protection mechanisms for the onboard Flash memory and SRAM, such as protection against read, write, read from proprietary code.
