In the summer, mosquitoes are the worst enemies for many. Moreover, unlike country and forest ones, urban ones are distinguished by agility and are more shy. It is much more difficult to kill such a bloodsucker, since his diet is at night, and he will patiently wait for you to fall asleep. Just one mosquito can keep you awake half the night, periodically reminding you of its presence.

To combat mosquitoes, in addition to protective creams, there are commercially available thermal evaporators of a special substance that can kill all flying insects within 30 minutes indoors. How often these protection methods are harmless to the person himself, time will tell, but they cannot be classified as cheap.

On sale you can also find a Chinese-made lamp-trap for mosquitoes (Electronic Insect Killer), which does not use chemistry. It is made quite simply and can be easily made independently. Why do you need a lamp with a blue glow with a power of not more than 25 W: to get blue light, you can paint any suitable lamp with zaponlak.

The lamp is connected in parallel with a mains voltage doubler, the circuit of which is shown in fig. 2.8.

Rice. 2.8. The simplest version of the circuit for obtaining increased voltage

Capacitors C1 and C2 are charged to the peak value of the mains voltage (Umax=1,414*220=311 V), and resistor R1 limits the current through the diodes in the event of a short circuit at the output.

On contacts 3-4 there will be a constant voltage of about 620 V - two bare wires with a diameter of 0,3 ... 0,6 mm are connected to them. These wires run in parallel (4 mm spacing) in a spiral around the lamp at a distance of 10.20 mm from the glass of the lamp and are attached to dielectric posts (Fig. 2.9).

Rice. 2.9 Appearance of the structure

It is better to use a lamp with an elongated bulb, which will make the design of the trap more compact with an increased working area.

The principle of operation of such a device is based on the defeat of insects falling into the gap between two wires with an electric discharge, and, as you might guess, a lamp serves to lure them into the gap.

The trap lamp is suspended closer to the ceiling, where a meeting with a mosquito is more likely, and in this case such a "high-voltage toy" will not fall into the hands of a child.

The disadvantage of this device is that for its operation, the mosquito must almost touch adjacent wires when flying between them: since the voltage on the wires is lower than the breakdown voltage for air, this is about 1000 V per 1 mm of gap (depending on humidity), i.e. i.e. for the entire gap of 4 mm we get 4 kV.

To make the trap work more efficient, it is necessary to increase the voltage on the grid wires. This can be done using a network voltage multiplier, made according to the circuit shown in Fig. 2.10.

Rice. 2.10 4x mains voltage multiplier option

The output of the device in this case will be about 1200 V (four times the mains voltage).

The design of the frame on which the wire mesh is wound can have a rectangular shape for ease of manufacture at home, and if the trap is always in a suspended state, then there is no need for plastic stops that prevent hands from touching high-voltage wires.

The capacitors used must be high-voltage, for example, type K42U-2 for 630 V.

Any diodes are suitable, with a permissible reverse voltage of at least 800.1000 V, for example, KD258G (D), KD257G (D).

An additional increase in the voltage on the grid wires makes it possible to further increase the efficiency of the trap. Usually a pulse converter is used for this. The distance between the wires in this case will need to be increased to such that an arc discharge is not yet formed between them.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The storm is getting bigger 17.05.2021

An analysis of measurements taken from NASA aircraft in 2012 showed that lightning may be a more important means of cleaning the atmosphere than previously thought.

In 2012, these data, obtained from the study of the top of thunderclouds over Colorado and Oklahoma, were considered overestimated. The new analysis, as well as the results of earthly experiments, forced us to reconsider our attitude towards them.

Lightning is known to generate nitrogen oxides and ozone, which indirectly create the hydroxyl radical (OH), the atmosphere's primary oxidant. Recent laboratory studies have shown that the weak and even invisible electrical discharges that accompany lightning flashes generate much more OH and hydroperoxyl radical (HO2) than previously thought - and than lightning itself does.

These laboratory data matched very closely with the 2012 data obtained from a NASA aircraft, which at that time was considered instrumental noise and began to be filtered out during further processing.

This is especially important because, as the planet gets warmer, thunderstorms and lightning strikes are likely to become more frequent, which in turn will affect the balance of greenhouse gases in the air - and, as it turns out, will affect more than scientists thought before, moreover, in a positive direction for humanity.

I bought an electric trap Clean house the lamp burned out I don’t know where to find it?

Matthew
Really, nothing complicated, I will definitely try. Moreover, the mother-in-law has a purchased mosquito exterminator that works on this principle, so he has proven himself well. So, a homemade device will work well.

Eugene
Thanks to the author for such simple schemes. I will collect and apply on cockroaches.
