In power supplies with a pulsed control method, the regulating element operates in a key mode, which is characterized by lower power losses. In addition, switching regulators use inductive and capacitive energy storage devices designed to convert the input DC unregulated voltage to the level required by the load.

Switching regulators have better energy characteristics and smaller overall dimensions compared to linear regulators, although they have a higher level of interference. The integrated regulator LM723 can also be used as a control circuit for the key elements of switching regulators, providing the appropriate connection of the leads and a number of external components.

The circuit of a switching regulator with an output voltage of 5 V and a load current of 2 A is shown in fig. 5.80.

Switching DC voltage stabilizer, 220/5 volts 2 amps

The circuit contains a filter capacitor C110000 uF, 35 V; timing capacitor C2 0,1 uF; rectifier diodes VD1-VD4 50 V, 4 A; pulse power diode VD5 (1N4005); filter inductor L1 with an inductance of 1,2 mH; transistors VT1 (2N5005), VT2 (2N5153); resistors R1=2,15 kOhm (5%), R2=4,99 kOhm (5%), R3=1 kOhm; R4=1MΩ, R5=3kΩ, R6=51Ω; fuse F1 - 1 A. The output voltage of the TV transformer is 6,3 V at a rated current of 5 A.

The unstabilized input voltage in the source is formed by a full-wave bridge rectifier with a capacitive filter. Transistors VT1 and VT2 (pn-p type) are included in the circuit. Darlington and form a key regulatory element of the stabilizer.

The control input of the regulating key (the base of the transistor VT1) is connected to terminal 11 of the LM723 stabilizer, and the output of the key (the collectors of transistors VT1 and VT2) is connected to the junction point of the VD5 diode and the L1 inductor.

The output voltage is taken from the opposite output of the inductor relative to the common point ("Earth").

When mounting the source, it is necessary to monitor the coincidence of the mounting connections and the given schematic diagram.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Ideal vascular prostheses 08.04.2019

Scientists from Yale and Duke University (USA) have developed acellular human vessels, very close to the "real" blood "highways" of people prostheses.

Blood vessel transplantation is an extremely complex procedure, even with the current level of medical technology. Most often, doctors have to take them from other parts of the patient's body and transplant them into more important damaged organs. In some cases, vascular transplantation from animals is used. An alternative is artificial prostheses, which are made of polymers and implanted into the gap. However, all these methods almost always fail, and the patient begins to reject the implant.

The new technology uses a radically new approach. Scientists took from the bodies donated to science, samples of endothelial cells that form blood vessels and mucous membranes. These cells were placed on a specially prepared mesh frame made of biodegradable material. As a result, protein tubes formed by growing cultures grew.

After the removal of live cells, artificial vessels were obtained ready for transplantation. Removal of the live culture is necessary to optimize industrial production, ease of storage, and eliminate the likelihood of a patient's immune response. In the future, such tube blanks can be mass-produced and delivered to medical institutions, where they will be stored for a long time in anticipation of an operation.

The study was conducted on 60 patients from 18 to 80 years old, who were followed up from 16 to 200 weeks after transplantation. The organisms of the test subjects accepted the implants and grew multi-layered living tissue around them. Even if the new artificial vessel was damaged, it healed with the patient's cells.
