What if the existing unipolar rectifier needs to be supplemented with a rectifier of the opposite polarity, and rewinding the mains transformer is undesirable? A way out of this situation was proposed by English radio amateurs (see Fig. 8.3).

An additional rectifier (bridge V2 and smoothing capacitor C4) is connected to the secondary winding of the transformer through additional coupling capacitors C1 and C2.

Two New Zealand inventors are testing their idea: in the port, large rubber suction cups are attached to the quay wall.

The mooring ship leans sideways against the pier, the pumps start to work, and the suction cups tightly grab the board. The suction cups are reinforced in such a way that they can move up and down and sideways, depending on the level of the tide and waves.
