The creation of mini-power plants is one of the most useful hobbies of craftsmen and radio amateurs. This lesson did not bypass the authors of this article. Since the problems are common, we decided to share our findings.

Switching the generator windings from a triangle or a double star to a single one [1] increases the voltage, respectively, by 31/2 or 2 times. The power does not increase. And yet there are simple ways to increase power by 10 ... 12% due to better cooling. You can increase the power by another 10 ... 12% by introducing a midpoint grounding generator into the circuit using two powerful diodes (Fig. 1, highlighted with a thick line). This idea is borrowed from [2].

Improvement of electric generators for mini-power plants

Today, the problem of increasing power is not as relevant as the problem of running a generator at low speeds. The generator excitation system does not require a lot of power, but requires some EMF, the value of which is different for different types of generators and is expressed in voltage at the ends of the excitation winding. It turned out that in most cases a few volts are enough to start the independent operation of the generator (self-excitation). By adding two powerful germanium transistors to the generator circuit, connected to work as diodes (Fig. 2), and two electrolytic capacitors (Fig. 3, highlighted in bold), it was possible to create a very sensitive voltage doubler to provoke early self-excitation.

This idea gave rise to another idea for increasing the voltage delivered to a low-power load: shunt the remaining 4 diodes of the Larionov rectifier with electrolytic capacitors (Fig. 4) and replace (or shunt) silicon diodes with germanium or powerful Schottky diodes. But, we repeat, these ideas (Fig. 3 and 4) are not designed to double the generator power.

Improvement of electric generators for mini-power plants

To increase power, increase the diameter of the wind wheel and the wind speed. The latter can be done with the help of wind dams [3] or other air flow straighteners, as well as by raising the WPP to a great height.

We found the dam described in [3] already finished. It turned out to be a crossroads, the sides of which were planted with poplars. The wind speed at the crossroads turned out to be 2 times higher than in an open field, which, according to the Zhukovsky formula, gives an increase in power by 8 times!

The main reserve for increasing the power of wind farms is also the use of not only kinetic (static, thermal) energy, but also potential. However, the future of wind farms lies with the mass character, therefore, when improving generators, the main attention should be paid to adapting automobile generators to operate at low speeds and reducing energy losses during current transmission to mini-power lines, mainly by increasing the voltage.

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

Charging electric vehicles on the move 04.05.2014

The new technology is based in its work on the induction method of transferring electrical energy. The peculiarity of the technology is that it effectively operates at any traffic intensity. Drivers will no longer need to spend time at charging stations, as the electric car will be recharged while driving.

Experts believe that the minimum efficiency of the system should reach 87-90%. Before starting the introduction of the new system into the pavement, experts conducted a lot of research. The effectiveness of wireless charging at high speed, the system's resistance to climate change, vibration, etc. were studied.

Charging modules will be mounted under the roadway. This installation method will provide the necessary conditions for recharging hybrid passenger vehicles, in particular taxis and buses.

Each driver will receive a module location map. Most likely, they will be located in the area of public transport stops.
