The voltage stabilizer (Fig. 5.12) works as follows. The comparator compares the sawtooth exemplary voltage with part of the output voltage taken from the divider R8, R9. As long as the output voltage is greater than the reference voltage, the key transistor is closed. As soon as the sawtooth voltage exceeds the output, the comparator signal will open this transistor.

The lower the voltage at the output of the stabilizer, the longer the transistor will be open. After the sawtooth voltage drops, the transistor closes and the L2 choke circuit - the load closes through the powerful diode VD3 that has opened at that moment. As soon as the key transistor opens, the VD3 diode immediately closes. The input filter weakens the penetration of impulse noise into the supply network, the output filter - into the load.

Main technical characteristics:

  • output voltage, V.....5;
  • load current, A .... 2;
  • ripple voltage, mV.....50;
  • stabilization coefficient ..... 100;
  • switching frequency, kHz.....25.

In the stabilizer, you can use the comparator K554SAZA, K554SAZB or K521SAZ (but it has a different pinout). The KT908A transistor can be replaced by any other powerful high-frequency silicon npn transistor or a powerful low-frequency one from the KT805, KT808, KT819 series. But when using a low-frequency transistor, the heat losses in it will increase (at a current of no more than 1 A, the output transistor can operate without a heat sink). Transistor VT3 - any of the KT814 series. The KD213A diode can be replaced with any other of this series, or a collector junction of a powerful high-frequency transistor can be used instead.

Inductors L1 and L3 are wound on segments of a rod with a diameter of 8 and a length of 20 mm made of 600NN ferrite and contain 10 turns of insulated copper wire with a diameter of 1,2 mm. The magnetic circuit of the throttle L2 - armored B26 from ferrite 2000NM; between its cups make a gasket 0,2 mm thick from a non-magnetic material. The winding containing 20 turns is made with a bundle of five PEV-2-0,25 conductors.

Checking the device begins with measuring the voltage at the zener diodes VD1, VD2. An oscilloscope is connected to the emitter of a unijunction transistor and, by connecting other capacitors of different capacities in parallel with capacitor C2, by changing the frequency, they are convinced that the sawtooth voltage generator is working. Then a dummy load is connected to the device and the required output voltage is set with resistor R4.

Next, the oscilloscope is connected to the VD3 diode and rectangular pulses are observed. The shape of the pulses can be improved by selecting the resistor R6 and the gap in the armored magnetic circuit of the inductor L2.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Computer Commodore C64 Mini 01.10.2017

Early next year, Retro Games Ltd and distributor Koch Media will launch the C64 Mini, a modern take on the legendary Commodore 64 computer.

The Commodore 64 system went on sale in August 1982 and was produced until April 1994. During this time, according to various estimates, more than 17 million devices were sold. Thus, the Commodore 64 became the champion among individual computer models. A large number of different programs and various games have been created for the system.

The C64 Mini is about half the size of the original computer. To connect to a TV, users will be able to use the HDMI interface. It is said that there are two USB ports. One of them will serve to connect the included joystick, and the other can be connected to a standard keyboard.

The C64 Mini will ship with 64 games preinstalled. Among them - Cyberdyne Warrior, Hysteria, Impossible Mission, Paradroid, Speedball, Street Sports Baseball, Trailblazer and many others. By the way, it is possible to save during the game.

The C64 Mini will be available for an estimated price of $70.
