The network power supply for transistor equipment has small overall dimensions and weight, high efficiency.

The mains voltage is lowered by capacitor C1, rectified by a diode bridge (VI-V4) and then converted by a push-pull transformer converter (transistors V6, V7). From the secondary windings of the transformer T1 (only one is shown in the diagram), the necessary alternating voltage is removed. Capacitor C2 smooths out voltage ripples. The operating frequency of the converter is about 3 kHz. Transformer T1 disconnects the load and the network, and since the conversion frequency is quite high, the overall dimensions of the transformer are small.

The voltage from the secondary winding is rectified by a bridge rectifier (V8-V11), the ripples are smoothed out by capacitors C3, C4. At the output, two bipolar voltages of 6,8 V are obtained, stabilized by zener diodes V12, V13. Load current up to 350 mA.

The magnetic circuit of the transformer T1 is tape, toroidal, made of permalloy 79 NM. The dimensions of the magnetic circuit are 40 x 30 x 10 mm, the thickness of the tape is 0,1 mm.

Windings 1-2 and 6-7 contain 20 turns of wire PEV-2 - 0,1, winding 3-5 has 2 X 100 turns of wire PEV-2 - 0,2 and 8-10 - 2 x 30 turns of wire PEV- 2 - 0,31. The transformer can use standard cores OL 25/40-6,5, OL 28/40-10. Transistors V6, V7 should be installed on radiators with an area of ​​​​about 20 cm2, capacitor C1 should have an operating voltage of at least 400 V.

Martian soil suitable for life 01.12.2017

If humanity ever decides to colonize Mars (and NASA and Elon Musk, for example, have such plans), then we will have to make sure that food can be grown on the Red Planet. This time, a team of scientists from the Wageningen University and Research Center (Netherlands) discovered that earthworms, or earthworms (these creatures make a significant contribution to soil fertility) can live and reproduce in simulated Martian soil.

After the Curiosity rover sent out an analysis of the Martian soil, NASA found that the volcanic soil on the Hawaiian Islands has the closest resemblance to it. Previous studies using this model have had varying success in growing crops. It turned out that potatoes could be grown in special greenhouses on the Red Planet.

Manure is still one of the best fertilizers. Dutch scientists used pig manure in tests: they added it to simulated Martian soil samples and silver quartz sand samples and tried to grow arugula; the researchers then compared the results. To the surprise of scientists, the artificial Martian soil was more "successful".

Then, after the arugula sprouted, the team added another necessary element to some pots - earthworms, or earthworms. These creatures play a key role in revitalizing our planet's soil by digesting dead organic matter and releasing a powerful fertilizer that releases nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus. In addition, the worms loosen the soil, allowing air and water to better penetrate into it.

Thus, the tests showed that earthworms and pig manure help grow plants in the simulated Martian soil, and the worms can not only live in it, but also multiply. Such results are encouraging - perhaps one day humanity will be able to grow food on the Red Planet. By the way, the matter, apparently, will not be limited to arugula: for example, scientists reported that they have achieved some success in growing green beans, peas, radishes, tomatoes, potatoes, carrots and watercress. All vegetables (they were tested for the presence of heavy metals and alkaloids) were edible.
