A garland switch on one SCR for one garland can be assembled according to the following scheme (Fig. 1).

Resistors, an electrolytic capacitor and a trinistor make up a closed cell that works "for itself".

Elements R1C1 form a timing chain. At the initial moment after the device is turned on, the trinistor is closed and the H1 garland is off. Capacitor C1 is charged through resistor R1, and at a certain voltage across it, the trinistor opens. The garland lights up, at the same time the capacitor is discharged through a resistor and an open trinistor. The trinistor closes, the garland goes out again. The process is repeated.

A garland is made up of series-connected lamps with a current consumption of not more than 0,4 A. At a higher current, a V2 diode should be installed more powerful, for example D242B, and also KU202L (M, N) trinistors should be used.

With a slight improvement in the circuit, you can use a switch for two garlands with adjustable glow duration (Fig. 2).

Complete extinction of each garland during a pause can be achieved if the H1 garland is selected with a significantly higher current consumption.

Autopilot of the Chinese search engine Baidu 24.07.2014

China's largest search engine Baidu intends to explore a new market for itself - automotive. An Internet company from the Middle Kingdom is interested in developing vehicles that can move without human intervention.

As Kai Yu, deputy director of the research laboratory Baidu Institute of Deep Learning, explained to The Next Web, this is not about creating an unmanned vehicle, but an intelligent assistant to drivers who, in certain situations, would take over some control functions. Such an electronic system will be able to collect various traffic information and use it in a specific car, said Mr. Yu.

He also explained that the views of Baidu and automakers on the future of the auto industry are different: the search engine is not thinking about replacing the driver, but about giving him more freedom than he has now.
