The garland switch on the relay is designed to get the effect of "running lights" on the Christmas tree.

Garland switch on relay

The device consists of a relay multivibrator and a relay trigger with a counting input.

The relay multivibrator is made on the K1 relay. When the power is turned on, the capacitor C1 begins to charge through the resistor R1 and the diode V1. At a certain voltage on the capacitor, relay K1 is activated, the contacts K1.1 of which close part of the charge circuit. Now the capacitor C1 begins to discharge through the winding of the relay K1 (diode V1 prevents the capacitor from discharging through other circuits). When the capacitor discharge current reaches the release current of the relay, contacts K1.1 will open and the cycle will repeat.

The duration of the charge of the capacitor depends on its capacitance and the resistance of the resistor R1, and the duration of the discharge depends on the capacitance of the capacitor and the resistance of the relay winding K1. The same duration of the charge and discharge of the capacitor, i.e., the same duration of the pulses and pauses of the multivibrator can be set by selecting the resistor R1.

The second group of relay contacts K1 (K1.2) is used to control the trigger assembled on relays K2 and K3. When the capacitor is initially charged, the windings of these relays are de-energized. After the relay K1 is activated, its contacts K1.2 are connected through the closed contacts K3.1 the winding of the relay K2 to the power source. Relay K2 is activated and self-blocking by contacts K2.1 through closed contacts K3.1.

After releasing relay K1, its contacts K1.2 return to their original position (shown in the diagram) and turn on relay K3 through diode V2.1 and closed contacts K3, which self-locks through contacts KZ.1. In this case, relay K2 remains energized, since it is now connected to a power source through diode V2.

Upon subsequent operation of relay K1, contacts K1.2 disconnect diodes V2 and V3 from the power source. Relay K2 is de-energized, and relay K3 remains energized - it is connected to a power source through closed contacts K1.2 and closed K3.1.

When relay K1 releases again, its contacts K1.2 disconnect the short circuit relay from the power source and the device will return to its original position.

The switch uses a RES-22 relay (passport RF4.500.129), a resistor - MLT-2, a capacitor - K53-6. Diodes can be D7Zh, D220 or D226 with any index. The power source can be a battery with a total voltage of 9-10V or a rectifier designed for the same voltage at a load current of up to 0,5 A.

With this switch, it is easy to get the effect of "running lights" if you connect the lamps of the garlands in series and arrange them as shown in the figure.

Garland switch on relay

The number of lamps in each garland is determined by their parameters and mains voltage.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

Electronics with Nickel Cause Rash 28.07.2014

American scientists have found that nickel, which is contained in personal electronic mobile devices such as laptops, tablets and mobile phones, can be the cause of an allergic rash on the human body, especially a child, according to the medical weekly journal Pediatrics.

The report of scientists cites the case of an 11-year-old boy who developed inexplicable, and at first glance, causeless, itching and rash. It was later revealed it was an allergic reaction to the nickel contained in his iPad. As explained by the child's doctor, a dermatologist from the hospital Rady Childrens Hospital, Sharon Jacob (Sharon Jacob), such an allergic reaction is not life-threatening patients, but can cause pain and discomfort.

Nickel is one of the most allergenic metals, while it is almost indispensable in the manufacture of personal gadgets. An allergic reaction can be avoided by storing them in special cases. However, nickel is found not only in electronic devices and technology, but can also be found in jewelry, glasses, lighters.

Statistically, nickel allergies have become more frequent in recent years: in the past decade, 17% of children who were skin tested for allergies were found to be allergic to nickel, now the figure is 25%.
