The telephone line controller (KTL) is designed to protect the telephone line from unauthorized connection. It signals a short circuit or an open telephone line. When an additional load is connected to the line (resistance not more than 100...150 kOhm), the KTL indicates that the line is busy or is listening.

A simplified version of the KTL (Fig. 1) contains a bridge circuit for generating the supply voltage (VD1...VD4). a threshold voltage control device for a telephone line (relaxation pulse generator based on an avalanche transistor VT1), as well as an alarm line indicator made on an analogue of a thyristor (VT3, VT4) and a pulse generator (VT2).

The device works as follows. When the KTL is connected to the telephone line for the first time, the thyristor "latch" is open, the full supply voltage (about 60 V) is applied to the pulse generators, both generators are working, the HL1 (green) and HL2 (red) LEDs are lit. After touching the "Reset" sensor or pressing the "Reset" button, which can be connected in parallel with the R5, C3 chain, the thyristor latch (VT3, VT4) is activated and self-locking. The operation of the generator on the transistor VT2 is blocked, the device goes into standby (working) mode. The potentiometer R1 is adjusted in such a way that when the handset is off (line voltage is about 12 V), the generator on the transistor VT1 produces rare flashes of light. At the same time, connecting a resistance of the order of 100..150 kΩ in parallel with the load should cause generation failure. Of course, if a parallel connection of a high-resistance load to the line was made before the KTL was connected and configured, the device will only be able to respond to the connection of another parasitic load (a second telephone set, high-impedance headphones, a tape recorder, etc.).

When a non-standard device connected in parallel or in series is installed on the telephone line, which is associated with a break in the telephone line or a short circuit in it for a period of more than 3 s, the thyristor latch opens. Voltage is applied to VT2, and the generator starts to generate red flashes (HL2), which indicates an emergency condition of the telephone line. Generation continues until then. until the "Reset" button (sensor) is pressed.

The delay in the response of the device to a short circuit or line break is determined by the time constant R2 C2. A small value of the time constant of this chain increases the sensitivity of the device, but the probability of a false operation of the device when dialing a number also increases.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

ILD6070 and ILD6150 - Infineon's New Switching Regulators for LEDs 09.06.2018

Infineon has released the new ILD6150 and ILD6070 switching buck regulators for LEDs with current regulation up to 700mA and 1500mA, respectively. The voltage on the power rail can be in the range from 4,5 V to 60 V.

New regulators have a set of built-in various protections: current (protection against short circuit and overload), temperature, reverse polarity of the input voltage. At the same time, the temperature threshold can be set with an external resistor or an external NTC / PTC thermistor can be connected

Technical specifications:

Input range 4,5...60V;
Output current up to 1500 mA (for ILD6070);
Switching frequency 1.0 MHz;
Current regulation accuracy 3%;
There is a dimming function (analogue / PWM signal);
You can set the switch-off temperature with an external resistor;
Can connect external NTC/PTC thermistor;
Housing DSO-8.

Typical applications:

LED lamps;
Architectural and landscape design;
Street and tunnel lighting;
LED ballasts.
