The proposed digital indication scheme basically corresponds to that recommended by the manufacturer. Circuitry and components were selected to obtain maximum measurement accuracy and stability.

An external precision K142en19 (TL431, LM431) was used as a reference voltage source. This made it possible to bring the supply voltage range +/-3.5 +/-5.5V without loss of measurement accuracy. Because the circuit is used to measure voltages that are symmetrical with respect to the common wire, bipolar power is selected. The ratings of the parts indicated in the diagram are optimal and it is not advisable to change them. For example, an increase in the clock frequency leads to a shift in the value of the measured voltage by 2 units; and changing the parameters of the integrating circuit - to a noticeable non-linearity between the actual and indicated voltage.

The types of capacitors are indicated in the diagram; while reducing the requirements for measurement accuracy, capacitors of other types and smaller geometric dimensions, even of the KM5 or KM6 type, can be used. The printed circuit board is divided into two parts - the microcircuit itself and the indication, in order to reduce the size and the possibility of using different indicators. The board provides places for installing zener diodes and load resistors at a supply voltage of more than +/-5 volts. To indicate the position of the decimal point on the indicator board, chip resistors are soldered, their value is 210 Ohm for S / D indicators, or 2-5 MΩ for LCD. To facilitate the selection of values, the resistors R3-R4 are made up of two resistors connected in series.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Graphene airgel is lighter than air 08.04.2013

Scientists from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou announced the creation of a material lighter than air. Dozens of applications are already being invented for it: from airship building to cleaning the environment. The new material, called graphene airgel, weighs only 0,16 milligrams per cubic centimeter, more than 6 times lighter than air of the same volume. Thus, the weight density of the new porous material is lower than that of air at atmospheric pressure, and only 2 times higher than the density of hydrogen.

Airgel has another important advantage: the ability to absorb large volumes of oils of various origins, such as oil. This allows airgel to be used for oil spill response, as well as water and air purification.

Modern absorbents can absorb oil up to 10 times their weight - and this is considered a good indicator. Chinese graphene airgel is much more efficient and can absorb oil up to 900 times its own weight. At the same time, airgel absorbs organic matter very quickly: 1 gram of airgel can absorb 68,8 grams of organic matter per second.

The new airgel is produced using freeze-drying technology that removes moisture from carbon nanotubes while maintaining their shape. The result is the lightest material in the world: under the weight of a piece the size of a coffee cup, not even a blade of grass moves. In addition to cleaning, the new airgel could be used in a wide range of applications, especially in aerospace and medicine.
