In order to save the battery, and also because of the unreliability of the power switch, I decided to make a power off timer for my domestic multimeter "Electronics MMTs-01" according to one of the schemes described in [1].

Each of them has both advantages and disadvantages. The first circuit (author I. Nechaev) provides a clear power off, but a large voltage drop across the key inverters does not allow full use of the battery life. The second circuit (author S. Petrov), on the contrary, provides a minimum voltage drop across the key, but is distinguished by a long smooth shutdown time (about 30 s). Therefore, it was decided to combine the advantages of these devices, getting rid of the disadvantages. The timer circuit and its connection to the multimeter are shown in the figure.

Power off timer for Electronics ММЦ-01

The principle of operation of the device is similar to the prototypes: when the button SB1 is pressed, the capacitor C1 is charged, which gradually discharges until the logical inverter DD1 is switched and, accordingly, the electronic key DA1 is turned off. Given that the inverters DD1 in the circuit in Fig. The 1 in [1] are no longer key to supply current, there is no need to connect them in parallel and only one of them can be used. The inputs of free elements should be connected to one of the outputs of the power source.

The device is assembled on a printed circuit board made of double-sided foil fiberglass with dimensions of 24x26 mm using the volume-hinged mounting method. On one side of the board are all the elements of the timer and fuse FU1 from the multimeter. On the other - a contact block from the Krona battery. At the corners of the board, 11 mm high supports are soldered, which at the same time are conductors connecting both sides of the board. The device is connected to the multimeter board with a harness made of a flexible wire in fluoroplastic insulation, and is installed in the power compartment instead of the standard terminal block.

The device uses a Philips HEF4093BP chip, analogous to K561TL1. As C1, a capacitor from the K53-19 series with a capacity of 100 μF for a voltage of 6,3 V was used. As tests have shown, it reliably operates from a freshly charged battery with a voltage of about 10 V. With a real capacitor capacitance of 130 μF, the delay time is about 3 minutes when consuming current multimeter is about 7 mA. The voltage drop across the key does not exceed 40 mV.

All resistors - MLT-0,125. The MP-1 microswitch installed instead of PD7-9 was used as the SB1 button. The numbers of the contact pads on the board of the multimeter A1 (see Fig.), as well as the contacts X1.3 - X1.6 correspond to the designations on the multimeter factory circuit [2].

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Floating drone Ziphius 09.08.2016

Snorkeling can be a pleasant and relaxing experience, but now a person does not have to get into the water himself. To discover new underwater worlds, you can send Azorean's Ziphius floating drone. It is equipped with a built-in HD camera and records underwater beauty in 720p.

So far, the manufacturer is at the stage of finalizing the device, but the main characteristics have already been determined. In particular, the drone will be controlled using a WLAN module, due to which the range will be about 90 meters. The video will be recorded to the built-in memory or streamed to your smartphone.

The memory should be easily expandable using the integrated microSD card slot. Currently, the drone is capable of moving through water at speeds up to 10 km/h, but it is planned to introduce the function of diving under water. The mass of the device is about 1,5 kg, battery charging should be enough for about one hour of battery life.
