This device can be useful in a country house or a farm, as well as in many other cases when it is necessary to control and maintain a certain level of water in the tank.

So, when using a submersible pump to pump water from a well for irrigation, it is necessary to ensure that the water level does not drop below the position of the pump. Otherwise, the pump, idling (without water), will overheat and fail.

The scheme of the universal automatic device (Fig. 1.27) will help you get rid of all these problems. It is simple and reliable, and also provides for the possibility of multifunctional use (water lifting or drainage).

The circuit circuits are not connected in any way with the tank body, which excludes electrochemical corrosion of the tank surface, as is the case in many previously published circuits of a similar purpose.

The principle of operation of the circuit is based on the use of electrical conductivity of water, which, falling between the plates of the sensors, closes the base current circuit of the transistor VT1. In this case, relay K1 is activated and with its contacts K1.1 turns on or off (depending on position 82) the pump.

As sensors F1, F2, you can use plates made of any metal that is not subject to corrosion in water. So, for example, you can use a used stainless razor (see Fig. 1.28). The distance between the sensor plates can be 5 ... 20 mm, and they are mounted on dielectric bases made of materials that do not retain water, such as plexiglass or fluoroplastic.

When the circuit is powered on by toggle switch S1, if there is no water in the tank, relay K1 will not work and its contacts K1.1 (normally closed) will provide power to the pump until the water reaches the level of the F1 sensor. In this case, the relay will work and turn off the pump with its contacts. The pump will turn on again only when the water level drops below the level of the sensor F2 (contacts K1.2 connect it to work when the relay is triggered). This is how the circuit works in the WATER RISE mode (the initial position of the toggle switch S2 is indicated on the diagram just for this mode). By switching the S2 toggle switch to the DRAINAGE position, the circuit can be used to automatically control the submersible pump when pumping water - turn it off when the water level drops below the F2 sensor position. In this case, the water intake of the pump should be located slightly below the sensor itself.

The scheme is not critical to the parts used. Any transformer is suitable, with a voltage in the secondary winding of 24 ... 30 V - it is associated with the operating voltage of the relay winding. The circuit uses: relay K1 type TKE52POD; capacitor C1 type K50-29 or similar. The LED can be anything, the KT827 transistor can be used with the letter A, B, C or KT829A, B, C.

It is more convenient to connect sensors F1, F2 to the circuit through a connector (it is not shown in the figure).

When properly assembled, the configuration circuit does not require.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

An eco-friendly way to get vanillin 23.03.2017

Shivaji L. Bhanawase and Ganapati D. Yadav from the Institute of Chemical Technology, India, have developed a new catalyst that will make the synthesis of vanillin much more environmentally friendly than the current method.

The aroma of vanillin is found in hundreds and hundreds of food products, but in the vast majority of cases, synthetic vanillin is used. The fact is that the natural source of vanillin - vanilla beans - are extremely expensive, because vanilla flowers must be pollinated by hand.

On the other hand, the method currently used to synthesize vanillin is not only inefficient, but also leads to the formation of large volumes of waste water, which also needs to be purified.

The catalyst developed by Indian scientists contains easily accessible elements, such as vanillin, silicon and copper, and most importantly, it helps to separate into vanillin from other substances in a container of boiling water. Moreover, the catalyst can be reused at least four times and without loss of efficiency - usually catalysts are supposed to be replaced after the first use. To demonstrate the workability of their concept, the authors produced a small amount of liquid vanillin.

Finally, the new technology does not produce waste water with a very high pH, which would have to be neutralized with hydrochloric acid before being released back into nature.
