Many people use household electric stoves, as well as other electric heating devices. Some of them, such as the Rossiyanka two-burner electric stove, have thermoelectric heating controllers. The thermostat not only saves energy, but also makes the cooking process more convenient.

Thermoelectric regulators have low reliability and require periodic repair or adjustment. To get rid of these worries will help the circuit of the electronic power controller (Fig. 1). The circuit allows you to smoothly control the heating of two heaters with a power of 2 kW each.

Rice. 1. Blocks of the power regulator circuit: A1 - control unit, A2 - switching unit, A3 - timer, EK1 and EK2 - heating elements.

The use of contactless electronic power control in the load not only increases the reliability of the entire device, but also makes it easy to supplement the circuit with a timer (A3), which can turn off the heater (EK2) after a specified time interval. The timer circuit (A3) is not shown - it can be any of those published in the literature.

For the convenience of placing the thermostat inside the body of the tile, the circuit is structurally made in the form of two nodes on boards with dimensions of 155x55 mm (schemes A1 and A3 are best placed on the same board).

The electrical circuit of the control unit (Fig. 2) is assembled on single-junction transistors and is typical. The load is switched using powerful thyristors VS1 and VS2. The circuit elements are selected with a significant operating current margin, taking into account their possible placement (without a radiator) close to the heating elements.

The installation of the power circuits of the circuit (block A2) is carried out with a wire with a cross section of at least 2,5 square meters. mm in heat-resistant insulation.

The device uses variable resistors R1 and R2 of the PPB-15G type, the rest are of the C2-23 type. Capacitors C1 ... C4 type K73-9 for 100 V.

As fuses F1, F2, you can use jumpers made of copper wire with a diameter of 0,3 mm. Varistor RU1 is designed to protect circuit elements from short-term power surges and can be used as CH1-1 for 560 V.

The circuit is tuned by resistors R3 and R7 to obtain the maximum voltage in the load at zero value of resistors R1 and R2. Due to the large technological variation in the parameters of unijunction transistors, sometimes it may also be necessary to select capacitors C1 and C3.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

DC/DC Converter Mean Well RSD-500 22.02.2021

Mean Well has expanded its family of railroad DC/DC converters with the new RSD-500 series, which has a 500W output power and complies with EN50155 requirements. Currently available in the family are the RSD-30/100/150/200/300/500 series with 2:1 input voltage range and 24V, 48V and 110V ratings.

The main features of the new series are a fanless design, a thin body (up to 41 mm), full silicone molding of the printed circuit board and partial molding of components, which increases shock resistance and provides protection against dust and moisture, as well as an industrial operating temperature range of -40... 80°C. The converters have an increased input-output insulation strength (up to 4 kV) and are able to withstand vibration loads up to 5 G.

Additionally, the converters implement an upward adjustment of the output voltage for more precise tuning of the power supply system and compensation for voltage drops on the wires. The converters implement all types of protection against overload, short circuit at the output, excess output voltage, overheating, reverse polarity at the input and against low input voltage.

These converters are designed for use in industrial and railway monitoring and control systems, as well as in telecommunications devices operating in harsh environments.
