A relatively simple device made on three transistors will help determine the location of the hidden electrical wiring in the walls of the room. A multivibrator is assembled on two bipolar transistors (VT1, VT3), and an electronic key is assembled on a field transistor (VT2).

The principle of operation of the finder is based on the fact that an electric field is formed around the electric wire - it is caught by the finder.

Transistor hidden wiring finders

If the switch button SB1 is pressed, but there is no electric field in the zone of the antenna probe WA1 or the finder is far from the mains wires, the transistor VT2 is open, the multivibrator does not work, the HL1 LED is off

It is enough to bring the antenna probe connected to the gate circuit of the field-effect transistor to a current-carrying conductor or just to the mains wire, the transistor VT2 will close, the shunting of the base circuit of the transistor VT3 will stop and the multivibrator will start working. The LED will start flashing. By moving the antenna probe near the wall, it is easy to follow the laying of network wires in it.

The field-effect transistor can be any other of the series indicated on the diagram, and bipolar ones can be any of the KT312, KT315 series. All resistors - MLT-0,125, oxide capacitors - K50-16 or other small-sized ones, LED - any of the AL307 series, power source - Corundum battery or 6 ... 9 V battery, push-button switch SB1 - KM-1 or similar.

Some parts of the device are mounted on a board made of one-sided foil fiberglass. The body of the finder can be a plastic case for storing school counting sticks. The board is fixed in its upper compartment, the battery is placed in the lower one. A switch and an LED are attached to the side wall of the upper compartment, and an antenna probe is attached to the upper wall. It is a conical plastic cap with a threaded metal rod inside. The rod is attached to the body with nuts, from the inside of the body a metal lobe is put on the rod, which is connected by a flexible mounting conductor to the resistor R1 on the board.

The antenna probe may be of a different design, for example, in the form of a loop from a piece of thick (5 mm) high-voltage wire used in a TV. The length of the segment is 80 ... 100 mm, its ends are passed through the holes in the upper compartment of the case and soldered to the corresponding point on the board.

The desired oscillation frequency of the multivibrator, and therefore the frequency of LED flashes, can be set by selecting resistors R3, R5 or capacitors C1, C2. To do this, temporarily disconnect the source output of the field-effect transistor from resistors R3 and R4 and close the switch contacts.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Hangover pills 11.05.2018

Scientists have created really effective hangover pills. The drug has already been tested in laboratory mice. The substance, introduced into the blood of "drunk" mice, reduced the concentration of ethanol in their blood by 45%.

UCLA professor Yunfeng Lu said that up to 10% of emergency room visits in the US are related to acute alcohol poisoning, which remains a major risk factor for death.

The natural biological processes in the human body are taken as the basis and principle of action of the drug. So, ethanol is broken down in the liver under the influence of the enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase into components, including acetaldehyde, which carries an even greater toxic effect. With a strong excess of alcohol in the blood, the liver may not be able to cope, and then acetaldehyde and ethanol residues, which the liver cannot break down, can cause death. In addition, the catalase enzyme neutralizes dangerous hydrogen peroxide molecules produced during reactions. Yunfeng Lu and his colleagues tried to combine three proteins into a single hangover pill.

Actually, the “cocktail” for a hangover includes liver enzymes (including alcohol dehydrogenase), which process alcohol in the blood and remove it from the body. The problem in creating such a drug remains its accurate and safe delivery to liver cells. To do this, the proteins are packaged in biocompatible nanocapsules, which ensure their work in the right place. The prototype was tested on laboratory mice - and after four hours the level of alcohol in their blood was 45% lower than in the control group of rodents who received only alcohol.

The content of acetaldehyde in these animals did not increase, remaining at an extremely low level. After the injection of nanocapsules, drunken mice woke up earlier and looked more cheerful than the control group. According to Yunfeng Lu, scientists are going to start testing on humans within a year.
