Everyone knows that insects, flying and ground, rush towards a light source. This “weakness” of theirs can be used to combat garden pests.

A socket connected to a vacuum cleaner is placed in front of an electric lamp lit at night in the garden. At certain intervals, the duration of which is set depending on the accumulation of insects in the illuminated area, the vacuum cleaner is turned on. The intervals of its operation are set by a multivibrator on transistors V1, V2 (Fig. 9).
