ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RADIO ELECTRONICS AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING Cow moo imitator. Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering / Calls and audio simulators Among the many toys with electronic filling that can imitate the sounds of animals, there are very entertaining ones. For example, a toy cow that imitates mooing, or a pig that says: "Let's go home, otherwise I'm already hungry!" The first mentioned industrial product, presentably designed in the form of a miniature soft toy (manufactured by our neighbors from China), has an electronic device that makes the sounds "mu-u-u", which can be used for various funny devices by adapting such a toy, for example, for an unusual signal in the car. As an audible signaling device, such a device can be used almost everywhere in everyday life - from a signaling device for opening a refrigerator door and opening interior (entrance) doors in an apartment to a phone call or lighting signaling device - for all the desire and creativity of a radio amateur. You can even use an unusual sound signal from a toy in a car, but you can’t use it as the main one, since the rules of the road have strict regulations on this. However, as an additional signal, it is possible, just do not turn it on when passing the technical inspection. To adapt the device to your goals and objectives, you will need to disassemble it and add a simple (on one transistor) power amplifier circuit with a 1-5 W dynamic head connected to its output. Photo 2 shows the appearance of the electronic filling of the Chinese device. Parallel to a miniature sound emitter (dynamic type with a coil resistance of 250 ohms, without marking), a pair of LEDs is connected in parallel, "eating up" the useful power of an already low-power amplifier. As a rule, a light indicator, in addition to a sound one, is not needed in everyday life, so we solder the connecting conductors of both LEDs from the board.
But a regular sound capsule is also not capable of developing high power in order, for example, to sound even a small room. You will need to increase the output power of the device. In our case, in order to match the output of the "toy" microcircuit, which has a high internal resistance with a low-resistance load (which is the BA1 dynamic head with a coil resistance of 4 - 16 ohms), it is required to use a current amplifier based on the VT1 transistor. This transistor can be either bipolar (silicon, npn structures) or field-effect. In this case, the resistance of the resistor R1 in the second case can be higher (up to 1 M) due to low input currents and a large input resistance of the field-effect transistor. Consider the electrical circuit of the additional amplifier shown in the figure. The resistance indicated in the diagram (limiting resistor R1) will allow the device to operate without overload. So, a field-effect transistor and the circuit shown in the figure are used as a power amplifier of an "industrial" sound generator "mu-u-u-uuuu". Since the inclusion of this sound effect will not be long in time, the transistor VT1 is not installed on the radiator. Uin contacts are connected to the board at the points of the "regular" connection of the dynamic sound capsule. The "+" terminal of the capsule is connected to the resistor R1, and the common wire is connected to the common wire of the circuit. The Chinese toy is powered by two series-connected elements of the STs-21 type, and the total operating voltage is 3 V. In practice, it has been verified that the electronic "stuffing" of the toy and an additional amplifier can be powered by an external stabilized voltage of 3 - 8 V. The upper limit of this range is final, after a further increase in voltage, the generator of sounds "moo-oo" on a flooded drop-shaped micro-assembly may fail. As a key element in such a power source, you can use the popular stabilizer KREN5A or KREN5V. As the supply voltage increases, the output power also increases. As a transistor VT1, you can use IRF511, IRF720 or a domestic analogue - KP743B. Instead of the dynamic head VA1 indicated on the diagram, any small-sized one with a resistance of 4-16 ohms and a power of up to 5 W is suitable, for example: 0,5GDSH-2, 4GDV-1, 2GD-36. The power amplifier proposed in this article can also be used in other toys for scoring unusual sound effects. When power is applied, the device “says” “mu-u-u-uu” three times, and then falls silent. The next inclusion is carried out by closing the contact pad on the "standard" board of the toy (see photo 2).
To adapt a device with a power amplifier in household products, it is required to carefully solder the conductors to the contact pad, at the end of which a reed switch or a switch (button) with normally closed contacts is installed. Conductors can be made of flexible copper stranded wire MGTF-0,6 or similar. The length of the conductors (so that there are no false positives from voltage pickups) should not exceed 0,5 m. I will give an example of the use of a device for scoring a door opening. Let's say a reed switch for opening is installed on the door jamb, and a magnet is "implanted" into the door itself opposite the reed switch. Then, when the door is closed, the contacts of the reed switch are open and the "mu-u-u" generator is silent. When the door is opened, the magnet ceases to act on the reed switch, the contacts of which close in the normal state, the device triggers and gives the sound "moo-oo" (or another, if another sound toy is used). Further, even if the door is open for a long time, the generator is silent (such is the feature of the toy); a new sound will appear the next time the contacts are closed (or the door is opened after it has been closed).
