Automatic turning off the light in the toilet has long been of concern to radio amateurs. Almost everyone forgets to turn off the light in the toilet. However, the "problem" is not completely solved, they forget about the "our smaller brothers" that live in most of our homes.

The figure shows a schematic diagram of the solution to the "problem".

Toilet arrangement

In parallel with the contacts of the toilet light switch SB1, neon bulbs HL1, HL2 and a similar circuit R3, HL2 are connected in series through the limiting resistor R4. Parallel to the HL1 lighting bulb, a three-phase exhaust fan motor M1 type VN-2 (used in the EC-1841 computer) is switched on. The necessary phase shift at a mains voltage of 220 V 50 Hz is provided by a capacitor C1 of type K75-10 0,47 μF 250 V 50 Hz.

When the light switch SB1 is turned off, the neon lights HL2...HL4 are lit. since they are connected to the network through the internal resistance of the toilet lighting bulb HL1 and the fan motor winding M1. Light bulbs HL2, HL3 are selected type 95SG-9 (maximum voltage 95 V and current 3 mA) and are located inside the toilet, illuminating it for cats. HL4 type MH-6 and resistor R2 are located in the case of the switch SB1, if the case is not translucent, a hole 4 0 mm is drilled in the case of the switch opposite HL4. Burning HL4 indicates that the toilet is free, the absence of burning indicates that the toilet is occupied or that the HL4 power supply circuit is broken.

When SB1 is turned on, the HL1 toilet light comes on and the M1 exhaust fan turns on. In the diagram, the dotted lines indicate the elements already standing in each toilet.

Replacing 95SG-9 neon bulbs with others is undesirable because of their lower brightness, different emission spectrum, and lower efficiency.

Replacing MN-6 is possible with a serial chain consisting of a diode, resistor, LED AL307V, AL307G. The green color of the glow of the LEDs is desirable, as it "semaphores" that the toilet is free. There are gas-filled green light bulbs, but they are larger in size and quite rare.

Instead of VM-2, you can use a fan of another type with a small size and with a three-phase or two-phase motor, for example, from old tape recorders and players. The use of a collector motor is undesirable because of the electrical noise it creates. Capacitor C1 can be replaced by K73-16 0,47 uF 400 V. Resistors R1 and R2 - any type, small.

The main psychological problem, to lure a cat into an unlit toilet, is solved by cat-specific red and infrared illumination of an unoccupied toilet with bulbs HL2, HL3.

Light bulbs HL2, HL3 are placed in the upper part of the "claw" rug, suspended behind the toilet, directly above the cat litter box. The rug is made on the basis of an unnecessary piece of linoleum. It is this basis that is very suitable for "clawing". So that the cat does not damage the bulbs HL2, HL3, they are closed with a lid.

PS In passing, I propose to place the serial circuit HL4, R2 in parallel with the contacts of your doorbell button, placing them inside the button, similar to placing them inside the SB1 switch. The neon light bulb MN-6, as the smallest in size, fits in a square button on the keyboard. Since the MN-6 does not have a base (panel), reliable hanging installation can be ensured by putting wire tubes on the PVC conductors, wrapping the conductors with a figure-eight thread directly at their exit from the light bulb housing, and then fastening the threads with nail polish. The place where the conductors exit from the glass is softly fixed.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Stone-eater ordinary 05.01.2002

American oceanologists have found in samples of volcanic rocks raised from the bottom of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, microbes that eat obsidian - volcanic glass, hardened lava.

In obsidian columns mined by drilling, both the microbes themselves are visible - filamentous formations on the surface of obsidian, and worm-like passages about 25 micrometers thick left by them in the thickness of volcanic glass. Microbes are also found at depths of up to 400 meters under the seabed.
