The statistics of emergencies associated with spontaneous combustion of TVs operating unattended for a long time do not become less alarming over the years. This problem remains very relevant today. The need for devices that can, if not eliminate, then at least minimize the occurrence of fires, is still great. Unfortunately, widespread devices that automatically turn off television receivers at the end of transmissions still do not guarantee the safe operation of the TV for many hours if the owner, having forgotten to turn it off, fell asleep long before the end of the transmission. The device offered to the attention of readers controls the vigilance of the viewer with the help of a periodic light signal.

Schematic diagram of the "antison" device is shown in the figure. It is included in the break of the power cord connecting the TV to the electrical outlet, and consists of a power source SI, an electromagnetic relay K1, elements that ensure the operation of the machine (DD1, DD2, VT1-VTZ) and its control (SA1, SV1-SVZ).

In the off position of the SA1 switch, the mains voltage is supplied to the TV directly, bypassing the machine. When this switch is turned on and the SВ2 button is simultaneously pressed, the mains voltage will go to both the TV and the power supply of the machine (31. As a result, the transistor VT2, connected between the output G1 and relay K1, will open and current will flow through the winding of the latter, the relay will work and its contacts K1.1 closes.After that, the button SB2 can be released, since the relay contacts will be held in the closed position.The operation of the machine is signaled by the glowing LED HL2, connected to the power source G1 through the resistor R8.

In the initial state, the capacitors C1, C3 are discharged, at the inputs 1, 2 of the microcircuits DD1, DD2 there is a low-level voltage; a voltage of the same level is set at outputs 4,11 of the DD1 microcircuit and output 4 of the DD2 microcircuit, due to which the transistors VT1, VT2 are closed. Unused inputs 8, 9 and 12, 13 of the DD2 chip must be connected to the positive wire of the power source. When power is applied, the capacitor C1 begins to charge through the resistor R1. These elements together with microcircuits DD1.1, DD1.2 form the first timer. The ratings of its time-setting circuit are selected in such a way that it will work in 3 ... 10 minutes. Then, at the output 4 of the element DD1.2, a high-level voltage will appear, which will start the multivibrator on the elements DD1.3 and DD1.4. The UTL transistor connected to it will start to open at a frequency of about 2 Hz, the HL1 LED, which is in the viewer's field of view, will flash and go out at the same frequency. At the same time, capacitor C6 will start charging through resistor R3; these elements, together with microcircuits DD2.1, DD2.2, form a second timer that limits the time of the "vigilance control" of the viewer.

The warning light signal lasts 30...60 s. If the viewer falls asleep, the second timer on the DD2 chip will work, which will open the VTZ transistor. As a result, the voltage at the base of transistor VT2 will be close to zero and it will close, breaking the power supply circuit of relay K1. The open contacts of relay K1.1 will break the power supply circuit of both the TV and the machine. To resume their work, you must press the button SB2 "Start". If the viewer wants to continue watching TV, then, noticing the flashes of the HL1 LED, he must press the SB1 "Work" button. Then, through the closed contacts of this button and resistors R2 and R7, capacitors C0,2 and C1 will be discharged within 3 s and the cycle of the machine will repeat from the moment the timers are triggered.

To turn off the TV without the intervention of the machine, the ZVZ "Stop" button is provided.

Structurally, the machine can be made in the form of a small-sized remote control connected to the power unit (power supply G1, relay K1 and switches SA1, SВ2) with a three-wire cable, which will allow it to be transferred to any place convenient for the viewer in the room. On the top panel of the console, LEDs and buttons "Work" and "Stop" should be installed.

For installation, it is recommended to use MLT-0,125 resistors, oxide capacitors - K53-14, capacitor C2 - KM-6 or MBM, relay - RES-22 (passport RF4.523.023-01) or RES-32 (passport RF4.500.335-01) , switch SA1 - microtoggle switch MT1, buttons SB1 - KM2-1. SV2, SVZ - KM1-1. The machine can be powered by any 9 V adapter with a long-term permissible load current of up to 150...200 mA.

The K176LA7 microcircuit is interchangeable with K561LA7, the KT3102G transistor with KT3102A and KT3102E, the KD102A diode with KD105B and D223 with any letter index.

The establishment of the machine is reduced to the selection of resistors R1, R6 in order to obtain the timer exposure time required by the viewer, as well as capacitor C2, which provides the desired flash frequency of the signal LED HL1.

In conclusion, it should be noted that having the ability to turn off the machine may not be desirable if only children and elderly family members are left at home. In this case, you need to restrict access to the SA1 switch.

Skin care for astronauts 10.09.2023

Japanese companies POLA and ANA Holdings have developed a new line of cosmetics called Cosmology, specifically designed to care for the skin of astronauts in outer space.

These cosmetic products were created in response to a request from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to develop skin care products in the resource-limited, low-gravity, dry air environment of spacecraft. Astronauts in space often face problems such as dry, itchy, sensitive skin and discomfort.

Development of the Cosmology line began in 2020, and JAXA agreed to manufacture these products in March 2022.

One of the unique features of these products is their economical use of water: the foam cleanser can simply be wiped off, while the lotion remains in a semi-solid state so as not to spill in low gravity conditions.

The products have been tested by flight attendants on ANA aircraft as flight conditions are similar to those on the International Space Station (ISS).
