In frequently visited rooms, to save energy, it is convenient to use a capacitive relay to control lighting. When entering the room, if it is necessary to turn on the light, they pass near the capacitive sensor, which sends a signal to the capacitive relay, and the lamp turns on. Leaving the room, if you need to turn off the light, pass near the capacitive sensor to turn off, and the relay turns off the lamp. In standby mode, the device draws about 2 mA of current.

The schematic diagram of the capacitive relay is shown in the figure.

The device according to the scheme is similar to a time relay, in which the timing node is replaced by a trigger on the logic elements DD1.1, DD1.2. When the toggle switch S1 is turned on, a current will flow through the HL1 lamp if a high-level voltage is supplied to the base of the transistor VT1 from the output of the DD1.1 element. Transistor VT1 is open at the same time, and trinistor VD6 opens at the beginning of each half-cycle of voltage. The trigger switches from the capacitive leakage current when a person approaches a certain distance to one of the capacitive sensors, if before that he switched from approaching to another. When the high-level voltage at the base of the transistor VT1 changes to a low-level voltage, the trinistor VD6 closes and the lamp goes out.

Capacitive sensors E1 and E2 are segments of a coaxial cable (for example, RK-100, IKM-2), from the free end of which a screen is removed for a length of about 0,5 m. It is not necessary to remove the insulation from the center wire. The edge of the screen must be insulated. The sensors can be attached to the door frame. The length of the unshielded part of the sensors and the resistance of the resistors R5. R6 is selected when setting up the device so. so that the trigger switches reliably when a person passes at a distance of 5...10 cm from the sensor.

When setting up the device, precautions must be taken, since the elements of the device are under mains voltage.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

OLED lighting 09.06.2017

China-based Yeolight Technology, formed in 2015 as a spin-off from OLED technology company Visionox, has unveiled prototypes of two new products.

The first prototype is an OLED lighting panel. The 85 x 85mm panel with a 76,5 x 76,5mm active area emits light with a color temperature of 2000K-2600K. The panel efficiency exceeds 70 lm/W and the brightness reaches 2000 cd/m². The manufacturer estimates the service life of the "bulb" at no less than 20 hours. As stated, the product is ready for mass production on the 000G line owned by Yeolight.

The second prototype is a rear light module for cars. It uses translucent OLED panels glowing red. They were developed jointly with automaker Yanfeng for the YF17 prototype, which was shown at the Shanghai auto show in April this year.

The module is formed by 36 partially overlapping triangular panels. The ability to independently control the panels allows you to get the visual effect of a traveling wave.

The thickness of each panel is 1,6 mm, the brightness is 1000 cd/m2, the light transmission is 40%. According to the manufacturer, the serial production of such modules should also begin in the near future.
