The family of electrode holders, including many home-made ones, has been replenished with another well-proven one. Moreover, the "newcomer" is made in such a way that it practically eliminates the loss of working time for the removal of the cinder.

The holder consists of a handle, two L-shaped brackets located at a slight angle to each other, and rollers sandwiched between them on the same axis. On the inner sides of the latter there are four radial grooves of a semicircular profile. In the upper position, the rollers are slightly open, and as they scroll (as they approach the lower position), they converge more and more tightly, forming a socket in which the electrode is clamped.

And again about the electrode holder
Rice. 1. Holder with semi-automatic replacement of the cinder with a new electrode: 1 - cable; 2 - handle (glass fiber, getinax or lignofoil); 3 - L-shaped bracket (brass, 2 pcs.); 4 - a roller with four grooves of a semicircular profile (brass, 2 pcs.); 5 - electrode; 6 - axis (stud with kerned nuts)

Remaining fixed in such a holder, the working electrode is naturally consumed during the welding process. And when the cinder is formed, it is replaced by a whole one, inserted into the next, free socket.

Acting as a lever with the new electrode, the rollers are turned. The cinder, being outside the compression zone, falls out of the nest. And the new electrode, clamped in the lower position, becomes working.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Sony smartphone with Retina display 03.09.2012

Sony Mobile Communications (formerly known as Sony Ericsson) has unveiled its new smartphone Sony Xperia SL. According to Pocket-lint, the new model replaces the Xperia S, announced in January 2012. The Sony Xperia SL features a display that surpasses the display in the Apple iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S in terms of resolution. This parameter in the Xperia SL is 342 ppi (pixels per inch), compared to 326 ppi in the latest "apple" smartphones. What's more, the Sony smartphone's screen is superior in size as well - its diagonal is 4,3 inches compared to 3,5 inches in the iPhone.

The screen of the Xperia SL offers the highest image clarity among all Sony Mobile products and among all existing smartphones, according to the manufacturer's website (although, for example, the same Xperia S has the same pixel density). The display is made using Reality Display technology and is equipped with the Mobile Bravia Engine. The resolution is 1280 x 720 pixels.

Sony Xperia SL is equipped with Qualcomm MSM2 dual-core processor with a frequency of 8260 GHz (in Xperia S - 1,7 GHz) and a 1,5 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash. The novelty is based on the platform Google Android 12,1 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Overall dimensions of the device: 4.0 x 128 x 64 mm, weight - 10,6 g.

The battery life of the smartphone declared by the manufacturer is up to 8 hours of talk time, up to 410 hours of standby time, up to 33 hours of music playback or up to 6,5 hours of video playback.

Sony Xperia SL will be available in four colors: silver, black, white and pink. The cost and release date for the sale of the model are not reported - only photos and specifications of the novelty are posted on the Sony website. Additional information is expected at the IFA exhibition, which will be held from late August to early September.
