This charger uses 12V solar panel and LM317 adjustable voltage regulator. The solar array contains solar panels, each of which produces a voltage of 1.2 volts. As a result, 12 V DC is obtained from the solar panels to charge the batteries.

Charger from solar panels. Solar charger circuit

A little about the charger. The current from the solar cells, through the diode D1, is supplied to the voltage regulator LM317. The ADJ (regulation) pin allows you to adjust the output current and voltage. Charging requires a voltage of 9 V, which is obtained by adjusting the variable resistor VR. Resistor R3 limits the charge current, and diode D2 serves to prevent battery discharge.

Transistor T1 and zener diode ZD serve to turn off charging after the battery is fully charged. When the battery voltage exceeds 6.8V, the zener diode opens and current flows to the base of transistor T1, which also opens and current from LM317 now passes through it to the minus of the power supply.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Appearance can affect longevity 22.01.2023

Specialists of the School of Medicine of the University of Washington (USA) believe that some features of physiognomy contribute to a long and happy life.

Could youthful appearance mean a longer life? Yes, scientists believe. In 2009, they conducted a study on the relationship between appearance and longevity. It turned out that people who look young or even childish cause others to care.

Previously, experts suggested this. They were based on the reaction of adults to photographs of babies. This time, they found that seeing children activates the nucleus accumbens, a key structure in the brain's mesolimbic system. It is responsible for pleasure, reward and motivation in nulliparous women.

The involvement of this system is a neurophysiological mechanism that entails the motivation to leave, regardless of the degree of relationship.

Simply put, the more childlike a person looks, the more willingly the environment takes care of him. This, in turn, affects life expectancy.

What characteristics are considered more attractive to others? These are big eyes, a high forehead, loose cheeks, a small nose and a round face.

Experts attribute this to the fact that people take better care of more attractive offspring.
