The swept frequency generator is designed to measure the frequency response of high-frequency paths in the range from 150 kHz to 230 MHz.

A high-frequency signal (voltage 0-0,25V) is fed from the "output HF" socket to the input of the device under test. The variable resistor regulates the required RF output level. From the output of the device, the signal is fed to the detector head "Detection head", from the output of which the detected signal is fed to the Y input of the oscilloscope. The variable resistor "frequent" sets the center frequency, and the resistor "deviation" sets the sweep bandwidth (up to 20 MHz). At the entrance "i.o.x." negative pulses are applied at the moment of the beam reverse. A sawtooth voltage is applied to the sawtooth input. The output "met.out" is connected to the "in.met" of the measuring head.

The amplitude of the marks is also adjustable. Label generator internal - at 1MHz and 10MHz. If necessary, a different frequency can be applied to the input "met.external". Reverse pulses, switching the trigger, alternate the initial position of the beam and the frequency response through the line. This combination of characteristics allows you to see the frequency response relative to its zero. Shaper "i.o.h." and the sawtooth voltage from the output of the oscilloscope sweep is shown below.

Setting

By selecting a resistor in the trigger block, set the minimum amplitude modulation, with maximum deviation. The HPF contour tuning frequencies are shown in rectangles. The bandwidth of the HPF0 is 250 MHz, with a minimum non-linearity of its frequency response. The RF signal amplifier is tuned by elements with an asterisk for the highest frequency response uniformity in the range of 0-250 MHz. In the shaper, by selecting a resistor, the required swing of the "saw" is set.

All blocks and connections must be well shielded!

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Paintings on demand 16.12.2003

The British National Gallery has 2300 paintings by great artists of the past in its collection. Museum workers intend to trade these treasures. Not originals, of course, but superbly executed digital copies.

Using equipment provided by Hewlett-Packard, the paintings are scanned and digitized. If the best amateur digital cameras produce images consisting of 5-6 million dots, then the technology installed in the gallery allows you to copy pictures with a resolution of 100 million dots.

Copies are sold in the souvenir shop at the museum. You order a painting from the catalog, choose the size (so far only the formats are from 21 by 30 to 42 by 60 centimeters) and in five minutes you will receive a copy. The cost of a copy is from 10 to 25 pounds. It is made on a high-quality color printer, and the colors are guaranteed not to fade for at least 70 years. Since autumn, visitors have been offered a choice of about a thousand paintings, but by the end of the year, all exhibits in the collection should be scanned.

The gallery's management is considering the possibility of licensing the printing of their paintings to printing companies in other cities and countries - they will receive the paintings via the Internet.
