An SSB signal shaping filter can be assembled with as few as three crystals for the same frequency. Two quartzes are used in the filter, and the third one is used in the reference oscillator. A schematic diagram of a two-crystal filter is shown in fig. one.

Ris.1

The frequency of one of the quartz intended for installation in the filter must be increased by 2 kHz, then the frequency band passed by the filter will be about 2,5 kHz. Methods for increasing the frequency are described in Zverev's article "Crystal filter for SSB" ("Radio", 1966, No. 7).

To check the frequency separation of quartz, an auxiliary generator should be assembled according to the circuit shown in Fig. 2. The frequency difference is determined by connecting an electronic frequency meter to the output of the generator or (in extreme cases) by ear by the pitch of the beats in the telephones. The filter coils L1 and L2 are wound in two wires. The midpoint of the coil is formed by connecting the end of one wound wire to the beginning of another.

In the two-crystal filter assembled by the author, quartz was used at a frequency of 6,333 MHz. The frequency of one quartz was increased by 2 kHz. Coils L1 and L2 were placed on the frame of the IF circuit of the Record TV and contained 13 turns wound with two PELSHO 0,1 wires simultaneously. The filter is installed in the transmitter of the UA3QAV radio station.

According to correspondents (including the collective radio station UA3RDO, owned by the editors of the Radio magazine), the quality of the SSB signal of the UA3QA radio station is good.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Cell rejuvenation 11.08.2015

According to one of the most common theories of aging, genetic defects accumulate in mitochondria with age; the respiration of cells becomes difficult, and in the end, due to their massive death, the body is destroyed. Researchers from the University of Tsukuba, led by Professor Junishi Hayashi, questioned her fairness.

They collected skin cell samples from children (up to 12 years old) and old people (80-97 years old) and compared their mitochondria. The respiration of cells in the elderly really turned out to be less intense, but there were about the same number of defects in the DNA of mitochondria as in children. The idea arose that it was not a matter of genetics, but of epigenetics - the regulation of genes by methyl groups, which are attached to DNA during life. Methylation is a kind of adaptive response to environmental conditions, the cell's memory of the optimal activity of genes.

To renew this memory, the researchers reprogrammed the assembled cells, turning them from fibroblasts to stem cells and then back to fibroblasts. It turned out that such an operation erased the memory of age - breathing in all samples became the same as in embryonic tissue. This work gives grounds for thinking about a new recipe for the elixir of immortality.
