transformer An electrical device is called, in which the transfer of voltage from one winding to another occurs through electromagnetic induction.

It consists of a closed iron core, on which two (sometimes more) coils with wire windings are put on. One of the windings, called the primary, is connected to an AC voltage source. The second winding, to which the "load" is connected, i.e. devices and devices that consume electricity, is called secondary.

Transformer Action based on the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction. When an alternating current passes through the primary winding, an alternating magnetic flux appears in the iron core, which excites the induction EMF in each winding.

Instantaneous value of induction emf ε in any turn of the primary or secondary winding according to Faraday's law is determined by the formula

If that

where - EMF amplitude in one turn.

In the primary winding having n1 turns, total induction emf is

In the secondary winding, the total emf is where n2 is the number of turns of this winding.

It follows that

(1)

Sum of voltage u1applied to the primary winding, and EMF should be equal to the voltage drop in the primary winding:

where R1 - active winding resistance, ai1 is the current in it.

This equation follows directly from the general equation. Usually the active resistance of the winding is small and the term i1R1 can be neglected. That's why

(2)

When the secondary winding of the transformer is open, the current does not flow in it, and the relation takes place

(3)

Since the instantaneous values of the EMF e1 and e2 change in phase, then their ratio in formula (1) can be replaced by the ratio of effective values E1 and E2 these EMF or, taking into account equalities (2) and (3), the ratio of the effective voltage values U1 and U2:

(4)

value k called transformation ratio. If k>1 then the transformer is loweringAt k< 1 - raising.

When the circuit of the secondary winding is closed, current flows in it. Then the relation

is no longer satisfied exactly and, accordingly, the relationship between U1 and U2 becomes more complex than in equation (4).

According to the law of conservation of energy, the power in the primary circuit must be equal to the power in the secondary circuit:

(5)

where and I1, The2- effective current strength values in the primary and secondary windings. Hence it follows that

(6)

Hack and predictor Aviator. It follows from the formula that by increasing the voltage several times with the help of a transformer, we reduce the current by the same amount, and vice versa.

Due to the inevitable energy losses for heat generation in the windings and the iron core, equations (5) and (6) are approximately fulfilled. However, in modern high-power transformers, the total losses do not exceed 2-3%.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Nio ET7 electric sedan 15.01.2021

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Nio has unveiled a new model, the ET7 premium all-electric sedan with impressive performance.

The Nio ET7 is built on a 480kW twin motor platform (180kW permanent magnet motor on the front axle and 300kW asynchronous motor on the rear axle), which equates to 653 hp. Peak torque is 850 Nm, which allows the electric car to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 3,9 seconds. In comparison, the upcoming 1100-horsepower Model S Plaid will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 2 seconds.

The range of the base Nio ET7 with a 70 kWh battery is 500 km (according to the NEDC cycle). For the variant with a battery capacity of 100 kWh, they promise 700 km on a single charge, and the top version with a solid-state battery with a capacity of 150 kWh is capable of traveling over 1000 km without recharging.

The new brainchild of the "Chinese Tesla" also impresses with a complex of different sensors and subsystems for autonomous driving. The "brain" of Nio ET7 is an Adam supercomputer based on four NVIDIA Orin SoCs (one such SoC has 17 billion transistors and provides performance up to 254 TOPS.). That is, a total of 48 processor cores, 8096 CUDA cores, 256 third-generation tensor cores and a total computing power of 1016 TOPS are obtained. Adam is reportedly capable of processing 8 GB of data per second.

Complementing the supercomputer, the NIO Aquila Super Sensing complex consists of 33 highly sensitive components, including 11 cameras with a resolution of 8 megapixels each, one LiDAR scanner, 5 mm radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, two high-precision positioning units, V2X and ADMS. Interestingly, this abundance of sensors had practically no effect on the design.

The base Nio ET7 is priced at $69.
