Before finally installing the parts on a circuit board or printed circuit board, it is advisable to mock up the design - assemble it in a draft and check the operation of all cascades. After all, the parts you purchased, especially transistors, will certainly differ in parameters from those indicated in the description. You will have to adjust their modes by selecting the appropriate resistors. This purpose is served by the breadboard. It is simply indispensable for the independent development of various devices.

Bread board

One of the breadboard designs is shown at the top of the figure. This is a kind of stand on which you can solder the parts of the device under test and, using variable resistors, select the desired mode of operation. To connect the power source, clamps (or just sockets) are installed on the board, and a switch is used to supply power.

Cut out the board from getinaks, textolite or other durable insulating material with a thickness of 1.5 ... 2 mm. Drill several rows of holes in the board with a diameter of 3 .. 4 mm and insert contact petals cut out of tin from a can into them. Spread the ends of the petals on the reverse side of the board to the sides, and be sure to irradiate the surface of the petals on the front side of the board. In the upper and lower rows, install 3-4 petals each and connect them with a thick (0,7 ... 1 mm) tinned copper wire - these are power buses. Connect the upper bus through the switch contacts with a negative clamp, and the lower bus with a positive one.

To install variable resistors, fasten a 1 ... 1,5 mm thick sheet metal corner with holes at the top so that the axes of the resistors are parallel to the board. On the corner, you can place the resistors most commonly used when setting up kinaructs, commemorating 1 kOhm. 10 kΩ, 100 kΩ, 470 kΩ, 1 MΩ

For ease of use, the breadboard should be tilted to the table surface. Therefore, attach racks of metal strips 1,5..2 mm thick, 10 mm wide and about 200 mm long on the sides of the board.

Now about how to use the breadboard. The conclusions of the parts that must be connected to each other are soldered to the contact petals. Moreover, they are not shortened yet, but are used completely. When mounting structures with pnp transistors, those parts that are connected to the power minus are soldered to the top bus. The lower bus serves as a common wire, and the conclusions of the parts are soldered to it, connected according to the scheme with a plus power supply. When mounting devices with n-p-n-transistors, a plus of the supply voltage is supplied to the upper bus, and a minus to the lower bus.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

New target for the New Horizons space station 03.09.2015

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has announced a potential target for the New Horizons Expanded Science Program.

The New Horizons spacecraft was launched by NASA back in January 2006. The device is designed to study Pluto and its satellite Charon. A large number of scientific instruments are installed on board the station: these are cameras, spectrometers, a solar wind particle parameter meter, a dust detector, etc.

The main mission of New Horizons has already been completed. It culminated in a flyby of the Pluto-Charon system at a distance of 12 km from the planet's surface on July 500 of this year.

The station was originally designed so that, after studying Pluto, to study one of the objects of the Kuiper belt. In particular, the device has a supply of fuel to perform a number of maneuvers, and its communication module is designed to transmit data from distances far beyond the orbit of Pluto. The power subsystem and scientific instruments will be able to function for many more years.

So, NASA reports that the next target for New Horizons is likely to be 2014 MU69, a trans-Neptunian object from the Kuiper belt. According to various estimates, it has a diameter of 45 to 60 km and an orbital period of 294 years. The object is located approximately 1,5 billion km beyond Pluto.

It is curious that at the time of the launch of New Horizons, nothing was known about the 2014 MU69 object. It was only discovered by the Hubble Space Telescope in the summer of 2014. If 2014 MU69 is finally approved as the next target for New Horizons, the station will reach this object in January 2019.
