Attention! The structures are galvanically connected to the electrical network. Potentially life-threatening due to possible electric shock. Therefore, in the manufacture, verification, adjustment and operation, one should remember the strict observance of electrical safety measures.

Designs must be made in such a way as to exclude accidental contact with bare terminals of conductors or parts. When checking the operation of structures, you should not touch its parts or circuits with your hands, and solder replaced parts only when completely disconnected from the mains (mains plug removed from the socket).

Overview of manufactured microcircuits for LL and CFL

For PHILIPS Semiconductors (PHs), the development of electronic ballast components is one of the top priorities. Chips of electronic ballasts PHs develops and manufactures for almost all lamp types:

  • UBA2021, UBA2014 - for fluorescent lamps (TL, TL-D, TL-D HF series);
  • UBA2024- for compact fluorescent (CFL- Compact Fluorescent Lamp);
  • UBA2070 - for cold cathode fluorescent lamps used in scanners, copiers, for backlighting LCD monitors, etc.;
  • UBA2030, UBA2032 - for the latest xenon lamps (HID - High Intensity Discharge);
  • UBA2000 - for electronic starters.

Drivers are developed taking into account the peculiarities of operation in various regions (in terms of frequency and voltage) and meet the most stringent requirements for electromagnetic compatibility and energy saving indicators.

The latest PHILIPS developments in this area allow you to create small-sized devices that require a minimum number of external components and have a full range of protective and service functions.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Sugar water filter 17.07.2017

Scientists at Northwestern University, Illinois have created an inexpensive material that removes highly toxic industrial contaminants from water.

The water filtration material carries beta-cyclodextrin, a natural bio-renewable sugar molecule derived from cornstarch. Cyclodextrin turns into a polymer, joining together with another molecule, due to this, it undergoes a purification process, moreover, a little more reliable and aggressive than the same technology with multiple layers or activated carbon.

This method was developed primarily to deal with the toxic PFOS, which is used in the production of everything from Teflon pans to telephones, because contamination with this acid is the most common. The technology can be adapted to other pollutants as well.

To prove the efficiency of the technology, scientists diluted one milligram of acid per liter of water in a large pool. The most effective polymers could pull out up to 95 percent of the contaminants in 13,5 hours.

The polymers in such a filter are reusable, they can be cleaned of acid at room temperature and with the help of methanol.
