With the help of contact connections (CC), the elements of the electrical circuit are connected to each other and sources and consumers of electricity.

Electrical contact called the contact of the elements, ensuring the continuity of the electrical circuit. In other words, it is a constructive unit that forms a contact, a connection.

Electrical contact between conductors is carried out by pressing one current-carrying element to another with the help of bolts, screws, clamps, springs, rivets, joint deformation (crimping, twisting), as well as welding, soldering or adhesive bonding - gluing.

Contact connections are divided into non-separable, collapsible and detachable.

Non-separable contact connections - such joints that cannot be disassembled without destroying at least one of the parts to be joined or the material to be joined (welded, soldered, riveted, pressed and adhesive joints).

Collapsible contact connections - can be disassembled without destroying the connected parts (bolted, screw and wedge connections).

Detachable contact connections - devices consisting of a plug and a socket.

Connections according to the type of connection of current-carrying parts can be divided into all-metal with a physical welded contact and compressive with a mechanical (compressive) contact. Compression joints can be simple or complex. The first are formed between two conductors that are solid in structure, the second - between a stranded wire and a tip (sleeve, etc.) or between two stranded wires.

According to the purpose, contact connections operating in open and closed switchgears are divided into connections, connections and branches.

For long-term transmission of normal mode currents and short-term emergency mode currents, contact connections of current-carrying parts of electrical installations are used, the parameters and characteristics of which must comply with standards and specifications.

The resistance of the contact connection after its manufacture should not be greater than the resistance of the equivalent section of the whole conductor. If the contact connection is formed by conductors of different materials, its resistance should be compared with the resistance of an equivalent section of the conductor, which has a lower conductivity.

During operation, the resistance of the contact connection should not exceed 1,8 of the resistance value of the whole core.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

People become more merciful as they age 24.12.2023

With age, changes occur not only in human physiology, but also in his social behavior. Recent research from Claremont Graduate University in California calls attention to how the hormone oxytocin, known as the “love hormone,” may influence compassion and compassion in older adults.

The results of a study of the hormone oxytocin and its influence on the expression of mercy in older people provide valuable research data. It is noted that with age, people become more generous and helpful, probably due to richer life experience and better management of emotions. Highlighting the interconnected mechanism between oxytocin, empathy, and giving expands our understanding of social behavior and provides food for thought about the factors that shape compassionate attitudes in older age.

The experiment involved showing a video of a man's deep feelings towards his suffering son, which became a catalyst for charitable acts. Participants ages 65 and older showed an amazing amount of generosity, donating three times as much as youth ages 18 to 35.

Blood tests revealed that the older participants' oxytocin levels increased significantly in response to watching the video. This finding supports the idea that older adults' rich life experiences may promote strong empathy by activating the body's release of oxytocin.

Experts suggest that age-related changes in emotional regulation in older adults allow them to more effectively cope with negative emotions by shifting their attention to feelings of compassion. As a result, oxytocin levels increase, stimulating charity and attention to those in need.

Although oxytocin plays a role in the feeling of compassion, human social behavior is influenced by many factors, making it complex and multifaceted.
