Electric saws are used for transverse and longitudinal sawing of materials, such as boards and bars. In addition, they can cut at a certain angle.

In the manufacture of furniture, for example, it is recommended to use electric saws, which include various interchangeable files that allow you to cut not only plywood and wood, but also modern coated sheet material. The power saw handles materials such as hardwood, drywall, plastic, and brick. Circular and chain saws significantly reduce the time spent on sawing timber, but they are not suitable for fine work. The saws of the following brands are most widely used: IE-5107, K-5M, EP-5KM.

For sawing unhewn logs, ridges, saws of the EP-K6 brand are needed.

The cutting part of such saws is a saw chain, which consists of teeth connected by hinges.

Working with the listed saws requires compliance with safety regulations:

1. When sawing in a damp room, the mains voltage should not exceed 36 V.

2. The saw can only be transported by placing it in the case.

3. After finishing work, the saw must be removed to a place specially designated for it.

When working with an electric saw, it should be remembered that this is a tool that is a source of increased danger. Having bought such a saw, first of all, you should carefully study the device of the saw and the rules for its operation. Before starting work, remove the bushing and fill the stuffing box with grease. Lubrication is repeated every 25-30 hours of operation.

The manual circular saw IE-5107 has a fairly high frequency of rotation of the disk - 2940 rpm, which provides a 750 W electric motor, so it cuts wood materials up to 65 mm thick, and a special device allows you to change the angle of inclination of the cutting part from 0 to 45 °.

This saw has a single-phase electric motor and runs on a conventional 220V power supply.

Before work, check the correct sharpening and breeding of the saw teeth and the strength of the disc fit on the spindle. The disc must not be cracked or damaged. In order to check the condition of the gearbox, turn the disk slightly. If turning the disc is difficult, the lubricant should be made more fluid. This can be achieved by idling the tool for 1 minute.

Before starting work, the material to be sawn is fixed on a workbench. After that, the rear handle of the saw is grabbed with the right hand, and the front handle with the left hand and the cutting part of the saw is set on the material. They guide the saw along the intended line easily and smoothly, since with sharp jerky movements the tool disk can jam, as a result of which the electric motor may break.

If, nevertheless, the disk is jammed, take the saw back. This is done so that the disk comes out and gains the required speed. Only then do they continue to work.

After finishing work, the tool is turned off and wiped with a rag soaked in kerosene.

Working with an electric saw requires increased attention and precise adherence to the technology of work. Deviations from the order of work and inattention threaten to result in serious injury. Therefore, if any deviation from the normal operation of the saw is detected, it should be immediately turned off and the cause of the failure should be dealt with. If the damage is serious, it is best to seek help from a specialized workshop.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Artificial island for refugees 09.06.2016

Dutch architect Theo Deutinger is known for his theoretical and experimental work reflecting the challenges of globalization. His latest project is called "Europe in Africa" and is an artificial island created on the shallow Tunisian plateau in the Mediterranean Sea between Tunisia and Italy. This island, which will become a city-state, will host refugees from African countries and will be governed in accordance with the provisions of the European constitution.

Since the supposed basic law of the European Union was rejected by the inhabitants of France and Holland, the Europe in Africa project will provide an opportunity, in the author's opinion, to see if a "fully European state" can actually work. Obviously (although the author does not say so), as refugees as experimental "interacting individuals of their habitat."

This is not the first idea of its kind. Last year, US Silicon Valley real estate developer Jason Buzi proposed a "Refugee Country" in the San Francisco Bay Area, and since then, Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawiris has promised to buy several islands from Italy or Greece to house refugees. However, Deutinger has a certain advantage due to the fact that the efforts of the engineers of his own "small homeland" in Holland in 1986 created the world's largest artificial island, which turned into the province of Flevoland.
