For balancing receiver mixer it is desirable to install a tuning resistor. A fragment of the circuit is shown in Fig.1.

Refinement of the RA3AO transceiver
Ris.1

The sensitivity of the transceiver on the bands of 21 and 28 MHz still did not satisfy. Therefore, it was added switchable URCH. Structurally, the URC is made on the "patch" on the free space of the board of the node A2. Resistor R2 is selected so that the current through the transistor is 30 - 40 mA. Relay K1 - type RES-47 (RES-48), you can use the QSK button of the transceiver to turn it on.

In some cases, there are problems with the operation of the node adding one to the division factor at node A6 (DPKD). To eliminate this, it is enough to turn on the blocking capacitor (2200 pF) from pin 10 of the DD6 microcircuit (Fig. 1.b in [L]) to ground.

Refinement of the RA3AO transceiver

In my transceiver, it was not possible to obtain an SSB signal level on the L2 coil of node A19, sufficient for the normal operation of the transmitting path. This problem was solved by introducing additional amplification stage after EMF node A18 (Fig. 3). Standard IF circuits from small-sized receivers were used as circuits. Structurally, the assembly is made on a small printed circuit board soldered at an angle of 90° to the A18 board near the EMF outputs.

Refinement of the RA3AO transceiver
Ris.3

Often, especially at a low IF frequency, it is not possible to obtain telegraph local oscillator frequency tuning range regulator R3 (fig.28 in [L]) within ±300 Hz. In addition, the power adjustment range of the output stage with resistor R2 (Fig. 28 in [L]) by 5 times is often insufficient.

Both of these shortcomings are eliminated very easily - the output of the resistors R2 and R3 (Fig. 28 in [L]) installed on the A17 board, which is upper in the circuit, is sufficient to be disconnected from the "ground" and apply +12 V to them. After such an alteration, the tone adjustment range telegraph signal increases significantly, and the power of the output stage becomes possible to reduce almost to zero.

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Controlling objects using air currents 04.05.2024

The development of robotics continues to open up new prospects for us in the field of automation and control of various objects. Recently, Finnish scientists presented an innovative approach to controlling humanoid robots using air currents. This method promises to revolutionize the way objects are manipulated and open new horizons in the field of robotics. The idea of controlling objects using air currents is not new, but until recently, implementing such concepts remained a challenge. Finnish researchers have developed an innovative method that allows robots to manipulate objects using special air jets as "air fingers". The air flow control algorithm, developed by a team of specialists, is based on a thorough study of the movement of objects in the air flow. The air jet control system, carried out using special motors, allows you to direct objects without resorting to physical ... >>

Purebred dogs get sick no more often than purebred dogs 03.05.2024

Caring for the health of our pets is an important aspect of the life of every dog owner. However, there is a common assumption that purebred dogs are more susceptible to diseases compared to mixed dogs. New research led by researchers at the Texas School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences brings new perspective to this question. A study conducted by the Dog Aging Project (DAP) of more than 27 companion dogs found that purebred and mixed dogs were generally equally likely to experience various diseases. Although some breeds may be more susceptible to certain diseases, the overall diagnosis rate is virtually the same between both groups. The Dog Aging Project's chief veterinarian, Dr. Keith Creevy, notes that there are several well-known diseases that are more common in certain breeds of dogs, which supports the notion that purebred dogs are more susceptible to disease. ... >>

The inscription on the diamond 04.05.2002

To supply each diamond with an individual number or the owner's name allows a new technology developed by the Zhersan jewelry company in Liechtenstein.

The diamond is covered with the thinnest layer of gold, sputtering it in a vacuum chamber. Then, also in a vacuum, this layer is used as an electrode, applying a negative electric potential to it, and the diamond is bombarded with a beam of heavy ions. The beam can be controlled like an electron beam in a TV kinescope by writing any signs on the diamond.

You can read the inscription, consisting of grooves 30 nanometers deep, under a microscope, but it is not visible to the naked eye and does not spoil the look of the jewelry. The gold is then removed with a special solvent.
