High-frequency chokes with an inductance from several tens of microhenries to units of millihenries are widely used in short-wave receiving and transmitting equipment. If the radio amateur does not have standard chokes with a ferrite magnetic circuit (D-0,1, etc.), then corrective chokes of tube TVs can be used (they are sometimes on sale as spare parts). So in unified black-and-white TVs of the second class there are chokes with an inductance of 39, 95, 140 and 360 μH. Usually they are coils wound in the "universal" way on high-resistance MLT-0,5 resistors (see Fig. 1, a).

These chokes do not have a ferrite magnetic circuit, so they (unlike D-0,1 chokes) can also be used in circuits where relatively large high-frequency voltages operate, for example, in the pre-terminal and even sometimes in the final stages of transmitting equipment. Such chokes are easy to make yourself. On fig. 1, b, for example, shows a self-made choke with an inductance of 330 μH, designed for the printed circuit board of the Radio-76 M2 transceiver (the distance between the holes in the mounting board is 15 mm). The structural dimensions of the throttle are shown in fig. 2.

It is wound on a bar with a section of 3x3 mm, made of sheet organic glass, polystyrene, fiberglass or any other good dielectric. In order not to damage the insulation of the wire, the edges of the bar are rounded off, and so that the turns of the coil do not spread, it is necessary to install cheeks from some kind of dielectric (in Fig. 2 they are shown by a dotted line, and in Fig. 1, b they are completely absent, they were removed after filling the coil with paraffin ). Two pieces of tinned copper wire with a diameter of about 0,8 mm are pressed into the bar - the future ones.

The required number of turns N can be estimated from the approximate formula

N=32root(L/d),

where L is the inductance of the inductor (µH), d is the diameter of the coil frame (mm). For frames with a cross-section in the form of a square, instead of d, the value of 1,2a should be substituted in this formula, where a is the side of the square.

For a choke with an inductance of 330 μH, it is necessary to wind 310 turns with a PEV or PESHO wire with a diameter of 0,1 ... 0,2 mm (type of winding - "bulk"). Indicated in fig. 2, the diameter of the coil corresponds to the wire PEV-2 0,14. Such a choke has a quality factor of about 50 (measured at a frequency of 0,3 MHz).

With an acceptable outer diameter of the coil (about 10 ... 12 mm, like that of a correction choke from a TV - see Fig. 1, a), in this design, chokes with an inductance of up to a few millihenries can be made.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Tablet Asus MeMO Pad 7 10.09.2014

Asus has introduced a new MeMO Pad 7 (ME572C/CL) tablet with Android 4.4 (KitKat) operating system. The tablet implements the user interface ZenUI, which is distinguished by the convenience of presenting information, Asus told CNews. This interface was designed specifically for Asus mobile devices.

The MeMO Pad 7 features a 7-inch multi-touch IPS display with an oleophobic coating, 1920 x 1200 pixels (323 ppi) resolution and wide (178°) viewing angles for crisp images. Asus TruVivid technology contributes to accurate color reproduction and increased screen brightness. In addition to watching movies or photos on the tablet itself, MeMO Pad 7 can be used as a portable multimedia center that connects to other devices such as TVs or monitors. To stream multimedia files over a wireless network, the tablet supports the Miracast standard, and with an appropriate Bluetooth headset, the user will be able to enjoy high-quality sound with CSR aptX encoding, the company said.

The tablet has two built-in cameras: 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front. Many additional functions developed by Asus specialists will help you to get high-quality photos and videos.

MeMO Pad 7 (ME572C/CL) is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Atom Z4 processor, which is also highly energy efficient. The tablet is available in two versions: Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi + LTE. The latest version is equipped with XMM 3560 high-speed LTE module optimized for low power consumption in both active and sleep modes. MeMO Pad 7160 is compatible with most of the world's LTE frequency bands.

Thanks to its duralumin frame and fiberglass body, the Asus MeMO Pad 7 (ME572C/CL) boasts increased durability despite its sleekness. The new version of the tablet has a thickness of 8,3 mm and weighs only 269 g, becoming even more compact and lighter than the previous one. The ergonomic shape of the body provides comfort when using it. The body of the device is available in three colors (pink, black and red) with different surface finishes.
