This device is based on the PIC18F25K20 controller, which allows you to adjust the fan speed using PWM (pulse width modulation). This provides such advantages as: smooth adjustment of engine speed, low noise level, high durability, greater reliability, lower energy consumption and starting current.
The microcontroller receives temperature data from a temperature sensor D18B20 and after converting the values to degrees Celsius, it outputs a PWM signal on PORTC.2 with 6 different levels:

The PWM signal from the MK is fed to transistor Q1. The circuit uses two transistors so that the current Iк on transistor Q2 was enough to start the fan. Since the MCU can supply a maximum of 3.6V, and 15% of 3.6V will be 0.5V, 1V is needed to open Q0.7.
How to calculate Q1 and Q2:
Vcc-Vba-(rб*iб) = 0
Fan control between 5V and +/-12V is possible. The maximum current load for the BC338 transistor is 800 mA, so it is possible to use two or more fans, but so that the total current does not exceed this value. The output of the MK is connected to Q1 and Q2, which act as a switch. D3 is used to protect against magnetic fields of the fan, without it, after turning off the device, the reverse current can go to Q2 and break through it.

Artificial leather for touch emulation
15.04.2024
In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>
Petgugu Global cat litter
15.04.2024
Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>
The attractiveness of caring men
14.04.2024
The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>
Random news from the Archive Wireless BLE sensor STEVAL-BCN002V1B
17.12.2019
The new STEVAL-BCN002V1B Bluetooth Low Energy Sensor Node Wireless Development Kit includes the STEVAL-BCN002V1 multi-sensor board based on the BlueNRG-2 SoC chip acting as the control processor. This sensor board is equipped with an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a magnetometer, a pressure, humidity and temperature sensor, a ToF distance meter and a MEMS microphone. Autonomous power supply is provided by the disk element CR2032.
The sensor board communicates with a Bluetooth LE-enabled smartphone running the ST BLE Sensor app, which can be downloaded free of charge from the Google Play and iTunes stores.
The STEVAL-BCN002V1D accessory board is used for programming and debugging the sensor. The accessory board is connected to the PC via USB.
The STEVAL-BCN002V1B kit with STEVAL-BCN002V1 sensor board and STEVAL-BCN002V1D programming board includes:
BlueNRG-2: Bluetooth Low Energy system-on-a-chip;
BALF-NRG-02D3: ultra-miniature balun and harmonic filter;
LSM6DSO: iNEMO 6DoF low power inertial module;
LIS2MDL: 3-axis magnetometer with digital output;
VL53L1X: ST FlightSense rangefinder (photon flight time);
MP34DT05TR-A: omnidirectional digital MEMS microphone;
LPS22HH: piezoresistive absolute pressure sensor (barometer);
HTS221: capacitive digital relative humidity and temperature sensor;
Cell holder CR2032 (battery not included).
To develop applications based on the STEVAL-BCN002V1B, the STSW-BLUETILE-DK software suite is available, which extends the STSW-BLUENRG1-DK software for BlueNRG-1 and BlueNRG-2 wireless microcontrollers by adding drivers for all sensors, a middleware library, and several BLE application examples.
