ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RADIO ELECTRONICS AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING We print with an inkjet printer on CD and DVD. Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering / Computers Adapting an inkjet printer for printing on CDs and DVDs is not very difficult. To do this, you need the printer itself, Epson and Canon. HP brand printers are not suitable for this purpose because the substrate is bent. Let's focus on Epson brand printers. The main requirement is that the passage of the carrier (disk) must be direct-flow, i.e. without bends. It is difficult to drag the disc itself through the printer with precise positioning, for this purpose it is required to make a substrate that will hold the disc and position it evenly in the desired position. Step 1. Remove the paper tightening mechanism (do not confuse with the shafts and feed rollers), you can not remove some printer models that allow you to change the design so that it will even be possible to print on paper. Step 2: Remove all plastic parts that come before the paper feed mechanism. In order for the substrate with the disk to freely pass to the broach shaft. An important point: the paper sensor flag must fall into the area of \u3b\u2bstretching the substrate. Also, if left and right protrusions remain in the tightening block, do not remove them, they will accurately position the substrate, and the substrate itself will fit exactly between them. Stage 3. Cut out a window in the back of the printer body with a height of about 4-XNUMX cm. Stage XNUMX. The most important stage (accuracy is important) is the manufacture of the substrate.
The top figure is a sectional view (grey indicates cardboard, yellow indicates a laminating film). "D" is the disc diameter. The place where the disc is placed. "B" - the width of the substrate. You can choose the width yourself, according to the distance between the protrusions in the tightening block, which will guide the substrate and prevent it from shifting (backlash). "A" - the distance between the beginning of the substrate and the protrusion that will determine the beginning of the paper, for each printer model may be different. "A" - is determined approximately as follows, this is the distance between the flag of the paper start sensor and the edge of the sheet of paper that lies in the tray + 1,5-2 cm for reliability. Substrate manufacturing technology: after removing all interfering objects and protrusions to advance the substrate, you need to take cardboard with a thickness of 1-1,5 mm. Trim from the edges, to the width of the passage of the substrate between the protrusions. Cut a cut "A" on the left, which will indicate the beginning of the carrier. Insert the substrate close to the broaching shaft and print out a circle along the diameter of the disk. Slightly sharpen the leading edge of the cardboard, as shown in the figure, you can cut it or sharpen it with sandpaper. Laminate the top of the backing (push the film forward of the beginning of the backing so that it protrudes 2-3 mm.). Cut out the hole using a compass with a mounted blade. This is where the disc will go when printing. Next, laminate the lower part of the backing (also move the backings forward by 2-3 mm film so that the top and bottom form a point). The substrate is ready, the bottom film will support the disk, and the disk itself will lie tightly in the cut hole. In order to prevent the disc from dangling in the middle of the groove during printing, you can stick double-sided tape on the film, it will hold the disc during printing. It is advisable to raise the head otherwise it will touch the disk. It is possible that the distance "A" cannot be selected immediately, and the printer will run the substrate. To do this, shortening the substrate from the leading edge, i.e. decreasing the distance "A", select the optimal distance "A". When you achieve the desired result, again make a point out of the laminate film. And the substrate is ready to go. Author: Fomin Dmitry; Publication: cxem.net See other articles Section Computers.
