A necessary part of a modern computer is the Sound Blaster. It allows you to get sound accompaniment of programs. Most of the sound cards (boards) for computers of the IBM family in the world have recently been produced without a powerful final amplifier and are designed to connect active speakers or any amplifying complex. This allows for better sound quality and avoids overloading the computer's internal power supply.

Having little experience working on a personal computer, it is easy to purchase and install a sound card in any free slot of the corresponding connector on the motherboard (inside the computer case). There is a large selection of sound cards in stores - from complete ones in a set that includes speakers to individual units. Buying a set is much more expensive than buying the same separately. And not everyone is able to satisfy the complete set of the set with the quality of the components, for example, the incoming speakers. But by purchasing all the components separately, there is a risk of incompatibility of nodes. So, having bought a good sound card from "Creative" and excellent-sounding speakers SP-690 (50 W) from "Advance", when they were connected together, two drawbacks were discovered. Firstly, the signal from the sound card is insufficient in level to get maximum power from the speakers. The second drawback was a strong click in the speakers when the computer was turned on.

Sound Card Intermediate Amplifier

The circuit shown in fig. 1. The nodes of the amplifiers US1 and US2 are identical. Each channel provides 7,5 times amplification in the frequency band 20...100000 Hz. Capacitor C4 in the base circuit of the transistor VT3 gives a smooth increase in the supply voltage to the amplifiers - this eliminates the passage of a pulse surge from transients. The intermediate amplifier can be powered from the computer power supply, for which you need to install a miniature X12 connector on the rear wall of the case, connected to the +4 V circuit of the power source. The current consumption of the circuit is not more than 6 mA.

Sound Card Intermediate Amplifier

The circuit used parts: capacitors C1 ... C4 type K53-1B, resistors of any type. The X1 plug must fit the sound card connector, the X2 socket of the ONP-VG-68-8/16, 5x14-R or similar type, for connecting the plug of active speakers, XZ - any small-sized one. The topology of the printed circuit board and the arrangement of elements on it are shown in fig. 2. Setting up the circuit consists in obtaining the same gain in the channels by selecting the value of the resistor 1R6 (2R6) within 200 ... 1500 Ohms (the value of negative feedback is adjustable).

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Computer with a smell 03.04.2001

The French firms Digissan and France Telecom intend to introduce odors into the Internet.

Two "aromatic columns" are connected to the computer, which contain a supply of several basic aromatic substances. Following the signals coming from the corresponding page on the Internet, the column fans mix the basic smells in certain proportions, obtaining a programmed aroma. For example, when browsing the pages of a company that sells kitchen furniture, the computer smells of the aromas of cooking dishes, and the page of a travel company will please you with the smells of exotic flowers or sea freshness.

According to the developers, by the beginning of next year, their devices will be able to synthesize 200 different smells.
