The journal "Radio" published an article by M. Erofeev "A device for determining the pinout of transistors" [1]. The device is quite simple, but it can be further simplified if we take into account that the structure of the transistor and the output of the base can be easily determined with an ohmmeter or avometer.

The described prefix (Fig. 1) allows you to determine the conclusions of the collector and emitter, if the structure of the transistor is known and the conclusion of its base has already been found.

Determinant of pinout of transistors

The work on determining the conclusions of the transistor is divided into two stages. First, the transistor structure and the base terminal are determined, and then the collector and emitter terminals are determined.

Following the method described in [2], the determination of the base output and the structure of the transistor is carried out using an ohmmeter. They do it this way: set the ohmmeter to the limit "x10" and alternately connect its probes to pairs of leads, moving in a circle. Having discovered at the next connection that the resistance between the terminals is small (hundreds of ohms), they transfer the negative probe of the ohmmeter to the remaining free third terminal. If the ohmmeter also detects low resistance, then the terminal to which the positive probe of the ohmmeter is connected is the base, and the structure of the transistor is n-p-n.

In the event that a large resistance is recorded, the probes are interchanged. After making sure of a sharp decrease in resistance, they come to the conclusion that the base of the transistor is the terminal to which the negative probe of the ohmmeter is connected, and the transistor itself has a p-n-p structure.

After that, by connecting the output of the base of the transistor under test to the socket X2 of the set-top box and setting the switch SA1 to the position of an already defined structure, the remaining outputs of the transistor are connected in turn to the remaining sockets.

When the transistor collector is connected to the X1 socket, the HL1 LED lights up brightly. When an emitter is connected to this socket, the LED will either not glow at all, or it will glow dimly.

The SB1 button is used when testing high power transistors or transistors with a high base current transfer coefficient, when the difference in the brightness of the LED glow with different transistor connections is small and it is difficult to correctly determine the pinout.

The attachment uses the following parts: switch SA1 - P2K with fixation, with four groups of contacts and twelve outputs. Button SB 1 - without fixation. Resistors are suitable MLT, S2-33.

The HL1 LED is suitable for any of the AL307 series. The power supply can have a constant voltage of 3 to 5 V.

The author mounted the attachment parts on a small board made of insulating material (Fig. 2).

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

New CC1100 based RF module hit the market 23.03.2008

The Panasonic PAN3550 RF module is based on the Texas Instruments (Chipcon) CC1100 multichannel transceiver (transceiver) and the Freescale MC9S08GT60 microcontroller. The RF module is designed for use in short-range systems with two-way data transmission in the license-free 868 MHz frequency band.

The PAN3550 is ideal for use as an industry standard Coppech RF radio modem. A feature of the module is an integrated antenna, made in the form of printed circuit board conductors. The CC1100 transceiver allows flexible selection of the packet length and independently performs complete data processing - preamble generation, sync word insertion and detection, address verification, automatic CRC checksum calculation.

The module can be used as a stand-alone complete node, thanks to the ability to run a user application program in the MC9S08GT60 microcontroller.
