Light-emitting diodes AL307V, AL307G can be used not only as light indicators, but also as illuminators. An example of such use is the illumination of the tuning scale of a small-sized transistor radio receiver, for example, assembled from the Yunost-202 set.

This receiver had one LED with a 330 ohm quenching resistor, which provided, at a supply voltage of 6 V, the current through the diode was slightly less than 20 mA.

The LED was located in the lower right corner of the scale. To do this, the polymer housing of the LED was slightly ground off on two opposite sides parallel to the plane of the leads, and a hole was made in the side wall of the scale niche in the receiver housing. Previously, a white matte paper with good light-scattering properties was glued to the bottom of the niche. An LED is inserted through the hole in the side wall and glued with the bottom plane, and the hole itself, through which the leads are passed, is filled with a solution of polystyrene in acetone.

For illumination, it is better to use the AL307G LED, the brightness of which is about 1,7 times higher than that of the AL307V.

The button to turn on the backlight is installed to the left of the scale - to the place where the power-on indication LED can be located. An MP-7 microswitch was used as a backlight switch, mounted on a printed circuit board using rigid conductors, which allows you to adjust the height of the microswitch push head.

If there is a scale of a larger area, compared to "Yunost-202", the number of LEDs can be increased by placing them evenly over the illuminated area.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

India - a country of solar energy 19.02.2010

The Government of India announced plans for the development of solar energy in the country.

The program, designed for 30 years, will require an investment of about 19 billion US dollars. Now the country's solar plants have a total capacity of 5 megawatts. By 2020 it should grow to 20 gigawatts, by 2030 to 100 gigawatts and by 2050 to 200 gigawatts.

All conventional thermal power plants will be required to have solar plants and generate at least 5% of their power from the sun. The authorities intend to cancel all duties on the import of materials for the construction of solar power plants.
