In everyday life, it is sometimes necessary that after pressing the switch, the light in the room would be on for a few more seconds. A diagram of such a device was found in a brochure published by one of the Moscow publishing houses almost two decades ago. I slightly modified the machine (see figure) by introducing a variable resistor R4 into it and adding a switch SA1, the role of which can be played by the main light switch.

Automatic light switch

When the contacts of both switches are closed, the lighting lamp EL1 is on, since the trinistor is open and the diagonal of the bridge on the diodes VD1 - VD4 is closed. When the contacts of the SA2 switch are opened, the automatic delay is activated. Now the current through the control electrode of the trinistor will flow due to the charging of the capacitor C1. But as soon as the capacitor is charged, the current through the control electrode will stop, the trinistor will close, the lamp will go out.

The duration of the delay depends on the capacitance of the capacitor and the set resistance of the variable resistor, it can be from tens of seconds to several minutes. If the delay is not needed, the light is extinguished by switch SA1.

Instead of a variable resistor, it is permissible to use a tuning resistor. Capacitor - K50-27, K50-29 with a capacity of 20-25 microfarads for a voltage not lower than that indicated in the diagram. Trinistor - KU202 or KU201 series, allowing a forward voltage of at least 300 V. All diodes must be rated for a rectified current of at least 300 mA and a reverse voltage of 400 V or more. With a lighting lamp with a power higher than 60 W, you need to set the bridge diodes to the appropriate rectified current.

Switches SA1 and SA2 are conventional electrical switches used in electrical wiring systems. If the main light switch is used as SA1, the X1 plug is not needed - its conductors are connected to the wiring in the switch box (of course, with a de-energized network!). It is even better to replace the single-gang switch with a two-gang one so that SA1 and SA2 are side by side. Near the switches, a case is placed with the parts of the machine mounted inside. The design should completely exclude the possibility of touching the conductors and parts of the device.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Smart alarm clock EzLarm 08.03.2020

It's no secret that many people have problems sleeping and, as a result, waking up - many of us would rather stay in bed longer if it weren't for business. It is with the aim of helping such people wake up faster and not obey the alluring desire to stay in bed, a team of developers from Canada presented a new project called EzLarm, a smart electromagnetic alarm clock reminder, as part of the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform. Moreover, it is worth noting the fact that the device itself is an extremely compact device that does not require additional configuration, which makes it especially interesting for potential buyers.

The EzLarm wake-up system itself is based on the use of a special NFC tag - which is this separate device of small size and emits electromagnetic waves that are converted into sound - loud and persistent enough to wake the user up. Moreover, the device must be attached to a special stand in a separate room and connected to the phone - so that to turn off the alarm, the user gets out of bed with the phone and turns it off directly in another room.

Due to the fact that the EzLarm is based on a converter, it does not require a third-party source of electricity and is completely powered by the magnetic radiation of a smartphone - which makes it very convenient and promising to use, since few third-party developers in general can offer something similar. In addition, the EzLarm system is supported by all mobile devices, whether on the Android or iOS operating system.

The preliminary cost of new items is 14 USD.
