Which of the motorists did not shrink when they got acquainted with the "electronic iconostases" on the dashboards of Japanese cars. What is not there! We would like at least one such button-light bulb ...

Radioamateur offers a choice of several foreign electronic novelties that may be of interest to motorists who know how to use not only a wrench and a mount, but also a soldering iron. The selection of materials is made up of descriptions of practical devices, the developments of which are collected by the American engineer Rudolf Graf and presented in his collection "Electronic Circuits: 1300 Examples".

TACHOMETER FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

This tachometer is convenient in that it can be installed on an engine with any number of cylinders, only by connecting suitable timing resistors R1, R7 and R8 to the circuit (Fig. 9). As an indicator, a measuring pointer device was used, designed for a current of full deflection of the pointer of 10 mA. The scale of this device is graduated in rpm, and its maximum limit is 6000 rpm.

Trimmer resistor R10 is used for the final calibration of the device. The circuit is equipped with short-term overvoltage protection, consisting of a resistor R5 and a zener diode VD1 with a stabilization voltage of 24 V. The connection of resistors R7 - R9 with the housing must be made depending on the number of engine cylinders, i.e. R7, R8 and R9 - correspond to four, six and eight cylinders. Domestic analogue of microcircuits DA1, DA2 - K1401UD1. Transistor VT1 - any low-power, silicon.

OVER SPEED SIGNALS

The device is triggered if the vehicle speed exceeds the set speed. In this case, an annoying sound is heard from the speaker, which disappears shortly after reducing the speed by 5 - 2 km / h. The circuit (Fig. 2) consists of a rectifier bridge on diodes VD6 - VD4, which rectifies the pulses coming from the contacts of the car breaker, while the resulting constant voltage is limited by the zener diode VD4,7 at 1 V. This voltage is proportional to the engine speed, after the transistor VT7 and the diode detector VD8 - VD5 falls on the potentiometer R1, which is the regulator of the device's response threshold. The signal from it controls the shaper and the multivibrator on the logic elements of the DDXNUMX microcircuit.

Transistor VT2 amplifies the signal of the multivibrator to the required limits, speaker BA1 is included in its collector circuit. CD4011AE analogues are domestic digital circuits K176LA7 and K561LA7. Zener diode VD1 - for a stabilization voltage of 9 V type D814B. All other diodes correspond to the domestic analogue - KD521A.

The circuit of another overspeed signaling device (Fig. 3) consists of four amplifiers based on LM2900 microcircuits, the domestic analogue of which is the K1401UD1 four-channel operational amplifier. Amplifier DA1 processes the signal from the ignition coil. The DA2 amplifier converts the frequency into voltage so that the voltage at its output is proportional to the engine speed. DA3 compares the voltage of the tachometer with the reference voltage and turns on the output transistor when the set speed is exceeded. DA4 is used in the oscillator circuit that produces an audio signal. The device can use domestic transistors KT315. Diodes "change to KD521A.

TACHOMETER

This tachometer (Fig. 4) uses a magnetic head as a pulse sensor. The signals are amplified by DA1 and fed to the input of the waiting multivibrator on the elements DA2 and DA3, after which the rectangular pulses through the control potentiometer R9 enter the DA4 shaper and then to the device with a measuring scale calibrated in rpm. All microcircuits - K1401UD1, diodes - KD521A, zener diode VD3 - KS168A.

WIPER SPEED CONTROL

The regulator for the wiper, in the circuit of which (Fig. 5) the integral timer NE555V is used, allows you to set the duration of the time intervals during which the wiper "swings" occurs. The DA1 chip operates in the non-synchronized multivibrator mode. The duration of the interval during which the timer is in the on state is determined by the values of C1, R2 and R3. Potentiometer R2 can change the frequency of the wiper from 2 to 15 seconds. In the device, you can use the domestic chip KR1006VI1. Relay with electromagnet winding resistance - 1200 Ohm. All diodes - KD521A.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

UAV for underground reconnaissance 18.03.2022

Norwegian scientists have developed the RMF-Owl drone, designed for underground reconnaissance. He knows how to avoid obstacles and avoid collisions.

The fact is that so far for robots to avoid obstacles in a confined space is a difficult task. The lack of access to the global navigation satellite system also interferes.

The new drone was pre-equipped with a durable housing made of multilayer carbon foam. It has four motors and a PixRacer R15 flight controller. The drone itself is 38 centimeters long and weighs 1,45 kilograms. It is capable of flying autonomously for ten minutes.

To determine the location, the drone uses lidar odometry and the CompSLAM simultaneous orientation and mapping system. He is assisted in reconnaissance by a local and global trajectory planner. In addition, the drone is able to map underground spaces and search for objects in them.

The drone has already been tested in a Norwegian mine: it planned a route without collisions in a narrow corridor and flew more than 6,6 meters in 200 minutes.
