Periodic switching on of the car's windshield wiper when traveling in bad weather can be done using an automatic device assembled according to the diagram shown in the figure. In this machine, the frequency of switching on the wiper motor is set depending on the specific driving conditions.
The device is an asymmetric multivibrator based on low-power transistors of various conductivity. In the open state of the transistor T1, from its load, composed of resistors R5, R6, a positive voltage is applied to the base of the transistor T2. Transistor T2 is on and capacitor C1 is charged through R4 and the emitter junction of transistor T1. When the turn-off level of transistor T1 is reached, transistor T2 closes simultaneously. Capacitor C1 starts to discharge through the circuit R1-R3, R8, relay P1, R9. At the moment when the bias at the base of the transistor T1 will have a negative potential with respect to the emitter, the latter is unlocked, T2 opens - the charge cycle of the capacitor C1 is repeated.
The turn-on time of the relay P1 (its contacts P1.1 turns on the cleaner motor) is determined by the interval during which the collector current of the transistor T2 flows through the relay winding - about 1-2 seconds. This is enough for a full cycle of operation of the cleaner brushes. The time interval following this is selected (depending on weather conditions) by switch P1 so that the upper position of the switch according to the diagram corresponds to the normal speed of the wiper, on average, the work cycle slows down to 10 seconds and in the lower position - up to 20 seconds.
The device is mounted on a printed circuit board measuring 100x100 mm and placed near the wiper switch.
The device can use transistors KT315 (T2) and KT361 (T1).
