Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. Citroen compressed air 16.09.2014

The French automaker PSA Peugeot Citroen has announced a special version of the C4 Cactus crossover, using a hybrid power plant that can run on compressed air. The ultra-efficient car will be presented at the Paris Motor Show (October 4-19, 2014).

The novelty is called the Citroen C4 Cactus Airflow 2L, from which you can understand that to overcome the 100-kilometer stretch, this car is able to use only 2 liters of fuel. For this, Hybrid Air technology is used, which allows the accumulation of energy in the form of compressed air pumped into a special reservoir by a hydraulic pump.

Similar to electro-hybrid installations, the Hybrid Air air system uses the method of energy recovery during braking, but instead of an electric motor, the C4 Cactus Airflow 2L uses an air pump connected to a transmission with a planetary (differential) gear. Only due to this development, French engineers have achieved an improvement in engine efficiency by 30% compared to the conventional version of the Citroen C4 Cactus.

It is assumed that using the Hybrid Air pneumotraction car will be able to move on gasoline (for this purpose, a 1,2-liter internal combustion engine with a capacity of 82 hp is provided), on compressed air and in a joint mode.

As part of its effort to reduce fuel consumption, Citroen has adopted a wide range of moving body parts to increase the vehicle's aerodynamic performance by 20%. In particular, the novelty received frontal active air intakes that regulate the flow of air into the engine compartment for cooling, as well as flaps on the wheel caps. Narrow tires (155/70 R19) have low rolling resistance.
